Seamonkey LDAP setup?

I setup a IMAP account to log into my exchange server at work. I tried to add a LDAP directory server, when I'm done and click OK no server entry appears.

Is this a bug with Seamonkey 1.1.11 or is there another way to add the LDAP server?

Yeah, same problem over here. I'm using Puppy 4.1.2 with stock Seamonkey 1.1.11. It silently ignores my wish to configure a LDAP server. I expected that Seamonkey at least gives us some hint about not being compiled with LDAP support. Maybe it is but something else is going wrong. I don't know how to debug this further, starting mozaddressbook from the commandline doesn't yield any hint.

Strange that your post was read more than a hundred times but nobody seems to care about it. I for my part need LDAP really badly.

So, maybe somebody at least could point me to how to compile a Seamonkey package containig LDAP support?

You might invoke SM and click Help/About:?, and select about:buildconfig. That will give you a screen with the compiler version and configure arguments.

(I'm running SM 1.1.14, downloaded from Mozilla, so the build config on my copy probably doesn't match what you'll see in the stock SM 1.1.11 Puppy version.)

since LDAP is not installed in 4.1.2 by default, I highly doubt that Seamonkey was compiled against it - I put recent compiled a pet of openldap and put it at http://puppylinux.asia/members/T/
(there is also a link to it directly in my wine 1.1.14 + winetricks post)

You would likely have to recompile it against this openldap pet (& openldap DEV.pet), thankfully ttuuxxx posted Barry's compile flags (./configure ....) in one of the 4.2 development post to get you started (or you could probably use a deb from gutsy or a tgz from slackware - I think v12.0 would be the best fit?)

To DMcCunney: Yes, about:buildconfig yields that LDAP isn't configured. So now I know I will have to roll my own SM.
To technosaurus: I am a puppy user since two days only, used debian and derivates the last couple of years. So first of all I have to learn how to build a pet or whatever it is called. Any introductory information on building puppy packages which I could read?
Wouldn't it be best to take puppy's source package of SM (instead of Slackware or Mozilla sources) and just change its configuration while building so that LDAP is supported?
