Hello, back again, have some time and have been working on some new backgrounds. If you like it and would like to see some different variations please let me know.

Cheers

Jason

Edit: added a different version, colours are a bit bright

Stormson5150,
Not sure why kfmclient didn't work from JWM, I will look into that. The next release I'm working on, 443, will offer an SFS with both KDE3.5.10 and the new KDE4.3.1 with option at logout to switch as desired. In KDE4, 'kfmclient' works and in KDE3 a renamed 'kfmclient3' also.

Bruce,
Thank you. LHP442's kernel is from Newyearspup, developed by forum members MU and I think wow also. I think credit for success with wireless would go to them. It also has Dougal's 'network-wizard-apr-1st.pet'.

Regards,

Hey Taz, thanks, I want to finesse it a bit more plus there are two others I am working on at the moment. Once I have them looking perfect I will post them for you. These tutorials are really showing me a great deal and I feel the LHP deserves only the best quality.

Cheers

Hi all, well after a hard drive meltdown I had to start from scratch with my backgrounds. I have attached screenys of the two latest, and also the backgrounds themselves, just in case someone takes a fancy to them, they are 1600x1200.

Cheers

Jason

Edit: added one more screeny, it may be a bit much but if you are interested let me know and I will add it

This is really nice. I am quite happy with it. It is beautiful, and packed with features. :)

I have one issue though, the console. If I click on any of the Console-LHP icons, the console comes up for 1 second, then goes away. What is wrong?
It comes right up, then disappears.

edit: I also tried invoking it directly from usr/share/applications. same result. It comes up, with a blue square cursor for one second, then disappears.

Oh, I'm using LHP4.4.2 on a Micron laptop, P2, 256R, 10GHD, frugal, IceWM

Also tried JWM, same result.

Thank you

New thread for new release. Console-LHP & wallpaper

#338 Post by tazoc »

@Jasmac,
Great work as always, Jason, thank you! One of your new wallpapers is on the default desktop for the new 4.43a base ISO as well as featured in screenshots at http://www.lhpup.org.

@sprangalang
Thank you for the feedback. Please click Menu | Utility | Rxvt and in the terminal type

Code: Select all

rxvt-LHP
/usr/bin/rxvt-xterm/aterm-xterm
and post the output.

There is another terminal in the Utility menu, LXTerminal you might find useful.

Hope that helps.

@All,
I've started a new thread for Lighthouse Pup 4.43. The release features a new kernel from Puppy 4.3, new graphics drivers, a new KDE 4.3.1--and brought back the classic KDE 3.5.10. I think most everyone comfortable with KDE 3.5 has had less-than-stellar results with KDE4 and will be happy to have the option to use KDE 3.5 back in Lighthouse.

Hi Tazoc,
I tried entering "rxvt-LHP", but it came back with about a hundred alarm # 8s.
Then tried "rxvt-LHP/usr/bin/rxvt-xterm/aterm-xterm", got file not found.
Then tried "/usr/bin/rxvt-xterm/aterm-xterm", got file not found.
It's giving me a lot of grief now, I can't even get the nic working. I'm afraid the machine can't cope with it all, or something is missing. Maybe I'll try a re-install.
Thank you for your help.

Hi timremy,
Not sure, my USB mouse detects normally. Do you have access to another mouse to try? LHP 443b features a new kernel and better hardware detection. Better still, upcoming 443c will be based on Puppy 4.31. Does your mouse work in official Puppy? Might be worth a try.

hello tazoc

yep, i tried another mouse, same effect. i have 431.1

on my hard drive and it works great, before that, i had

421 on my hard drive, and that worked great.

when i tried your light house, i was really impressed. i can run

442f, but i either have to unplug the mouse and replug the

mouse back in or use my touch pad.

thank you

timremy
