Ok uninstall the first package and install the newer one I have posted above, it has the missing updated lib, thats why your scanner wasn't working because of it
Now it should work, report if anything else is missing

Latest Gimp download for Puppy linux I've found is Gimp 2.4.5 it is a sfs of the sfs4 type

I noticed Audacious in your collection.
I find that mp3splt works well with Audacious to split mp3 files.
