Hey WhoDO whats the verdict on Claws mail? I would like to know which direction I'm heading towards, compiling more plugins or Back to compiling Seamonkey, I also found some themes for Claws mail, here's what the Tango Orbit theme looks like, I might be able to recompile Claws mail with the new theme replacing the current theme to save space Well I can try it, tell me what you think.

| Quote: | | - show desktop should not be in in autohide section In what? Icewm?? I removed it because well by default most themes don't come with a matching show desktop icons, So then it looks out of place, I'll see what I can do about getting one that works with all of them. |
sorry of being not exact: this is an jwm issue.
@whodo
congratulation to you and your family! i hope all involved are well.
that leads to some general points:
1. Do we have time pressure?
I don't think so. We all want a nice looking well done puppy. We are doing some new things, so we need time. if it takes 9 alphas and 7 betas and we get a nice puppy, it would be ok.
2. Does size matter?
We have discussed this many times, but i think we are on a point where we have to remember this.
One of the usps might be:
"Puppy can do all this this with under 100 mb...bla bla"
under 110 mb won't work this way and we would compete with the distros under 200 mb.
I know we are not in a competition, but i think well all want puppy to conquer the world
cheers

Hi aragon
I have a good feeling it will remain under 100MB, just this last alpha was a bit over, but WhoDO was under a push to give us something and didn't have time to weed out the bloat. But I have a sneaky feeling that alpha 3 will be once again under 100MB threshold.
he's saving around 2MB+ just changing the browser and using Claws mail. Which alone will put puppy back where it belongs

Yes indeed Congratulation WhoDO I figure I should be a grandfather by now, but my boys aren't having any kids yet, touch wood If you lived close by, I would sit back and have a cigar with you.Well the best wishes for your Grand-daughter and the rest of your family, It really frightens me when I think of my daughter dating in a few years, she's still 6yrs now, I'll scare the crap out of any boy she brings home for the first 10yrs then maybe ship her off to the frozen Canadian tundra, lol.

Claws mail works for me! And I now need the extra space. I'm pushing up just under 100Mb and I don't want to go over.
Seamonkey without the Mail/News will do. Can we do something about it report as 1.1.11 instead of 1.1.14?

Thanks for the well wishes, guys. I don't know how I feel about being called Pa or Grandpa yet, but we'll see. I might go for Pop instead!
Everyone is well and when I visited today Marsae's mum was looking forward to coming home with bub as soon as possible. Hospital food sucks big time!
There is a light at the end of the tunnel for Alpha3. It should go up either late tonight or sometime tomorrow night.
Cheers

@@@update on Claws Mail ed.2 @@@
This is getting good, I managed to theme it using 2 different themes that I download, and then compiled it with the new theme as default, only added around 100kb exttracted. It looks great but you know when when I get started at something its hard to stop. So I'm going to tweak the theme and make it look even better, Also I managed to figure out a way of saving just the settings and none of the private day, for building a package, so now I have it opening 'Defaultbrowser' by default when you click on a hypertext link in a email message, works like a charm, plus it also saves the plugin settings, so the next Claws Mail release will be reallyyyyyy good.

I'll wait for you, Jeff. If it's not done tonight I'll upload tomorrow night. I need the time to sort the icon themes out. I found a great GPL set on gnome-look.org that will fit right in with Deepthought and give it an even classier look.

ok WhoDo its up now claws-mail-3.7.0-html-Cal-v2.pet <--- with the v2
I'll just continue my theming during the next release also I find the small icons they use are too small, like 16x16 with spaces around the images, 24x24 would look so much nicer. anyways I don't want to hold progress up, enjoy, also made it default mail this time

What tha' heck! Let's go the whole hog and install the full 1.7Mb! |
Yes, indeed! And does the Calendar plugin also have a Contacts feature? If so, maybe it would be possible to dump Osmo 0.2.0 (650 KB), which is pretty limited in functionality compared to Osmo 0.2.4 (or whatever Osmo is up to now). For the later versions of Osmo (I've read) you need D-Bus, which would be really hard to squeeze into Puppy, would slow the system down, and overall would surely not be worth it.
Just be sure to make the Alpha3 ISO bootable, OK? I really want to try it out!

Done and tested ok. Not uploading tonight, though. Too tired. Gotta work early tomorrow. I think I'll turn in for the night

Not working here, but I may have missed a step in the install process. I'll revisit tomorrow evening when I'm a bit fresher.

Had a look at p1 and can't see a v2 version of Claws-mail. I'll look again tomorrow when I'm not quite so tired. Thanks for pushing so hard on this, Jeff. It is very much appreciated.
Cheers
