In a memo to Gordon Brown, UK's PM, President Elect Obama said,
| Quote: | A democracy requires accountability, and accountability requires transparency. As Justice Louis Brandeis wrote, "sunlight is said to be the best of disinfectants." In our democracy, the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), which encourages accountability through transparency, is the most prominent expression of a profound national commitment to ensuring an open Government. At the heart of that commitment is the idea that accountability is in the interest of the Government and the citizenry alike......
......All agencies should adopt a presumption in favor of disclosure, in order to renew their commitment to the principles embodied in FOIA, and to usher in a new era of open Government. The presumption of disclosure should be applied to all decisions involving FOIA. |

I wish you well in your efforts. We on this side of the Pond have lost just about all of the freedoms for which we separated from the Mother Country. Most of our citizens think we are still a "free country" because they have been trained in the state schools which teach this and ignore all the evidence to the contrary.
For a good review of the recent drastic loss of liberty here:

Freedom of speech is the basic human freedom from which all others can grow.
In the modern times, this is protecting the freedom of the internet information network. Promoting puppy/linux, making it useable to the common man and increasing the access to internet IS protecting our freedom of speech and ultimately everything else.
