If SeaMonkey does multithread download as standard, yes I might be one of those.

Don't know if Beem's last post was for me. There's no reason for anyone to "blacklist" me. I do hope for a simple answer - is wine-1.1.17-i486_412.sfs available and if so where?

Thanks in advance.

I don't have any other place to put it. have you tried going to puppylinux.asia and navigating to the download?

@Henry
You can download wine-1.17 at www.esnips.com/web/vanchutr
(Please read short instruction to install)

Thanks, vanchutr, but I don't think that's the sfs I was looking for.

And thanks, technosaurus. I did not know that's the only place it existed. Yes, I did try "navigating" again, with the same result. Well, I'll get it when it comes out in paperback ;-)

file permissions

Sometimes it is a simple matter of file permissions at the server, probably 600, which should be 644.

You don't have permission to access /members/T/apps_sfs/wine-1.1.17-i486_412.sfs on this server.
Thanks
That's the message I get also.
So we're two now. TTUUXXX!!!!!
And no the other reply wasn't for you.

Dear technosaurus,

I see that wine 1.1.18 is now out (winehq.org annoucement today). Are you up to it - I mean compiling? I have also noticed that each new version now brings something useful. Let's hope that's the case with this version, too.

With thanks in advance and kind regards,
vovchik

1.1.18 is a nice bugfix release. They fixed a few critical bugs this time,so it's compatible with more Winblow$ games and apps. Can't wait for techno's .PET ;)

Fixed:
* Media Player Classic segfaults
* Not showing any text in some textboxes
* Rubbish entries in registry on clean .wine
* Fixed a lot of DirectX issues,so more games work correctly
* Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 takes a very long time to finish loading
* A huge list of other fixes

Wine sfs/pet

Yes, I know. I was looking for the sfs as I have been using wine that way. It makes for easy changing and comparisons via boot options, and keeps pup_save small. Maybe I'm wrong?

1.1.18 sounds good, and I'm hoping technosurus will continue to favor us, preferably with an sfs, or if not, a pet.

I was just testing out the 1.1.17 wine which in itself works just fine including the 3d accelleration. (puppy 2.12 with tls glib)

But when I tried wine gecko (0.9.1 is the version downloaded) it worked but seemed to have major javascript problems..eg no images on a google image search just for starters. Has anyone else tested this? Am I the only one.

The older gecko (0.1.0) is based on mozilla activex works just fine...this newer version is much larger and looks like it's more firefox 3 in structure. shldocvw determines what is used so substitution is not really an option

that is why in 1.1.17 I actually replaced the iexplore in "C:/programfiles/..." with opera portable and renamed it... little experiment... back to standard wine this time

anyhow ... I am currently uploading the winelite pet for 1.1.18 - same dependencies as .17 and the sfs with dependencies except Xorg drivers included (no opera this time either)

Well the idea of wine gecko is for apps that use mshtml to embed web pages/html ... I suspect that it may be something about my test setup so was checking if anyone else had this problem...I would be surprised if wine hq would put out something that buggy.
In the past wine gecko would not work within the puppy union but this version does for example.
Any way on a general note your wine packages are great and appreciated

regards

hi technosaurus, from my own experience i think maybe you need to cfhange the permissions on the puppy1.1.18 sfs file. I got the Forbidden also trying to download it after navigtating to it on asia. I recall that has happened to me when posting pets. Anyway, thanks for these wines. I use them and look forward to each new one. I am going to try Office 2003 today with the Bordeaux software.

Hi All,

I fixed the permissions on those files. Sorry I missed it...I've been a tad distracted the last while.

@T..remember to set attribs to 644 or rw-r--r-- or let me know when you have a problem via pm.

When using wget with passwords that are now on puppylinux.asia do this

wget -c http://puppylinux.asia/members/T/apps_s ... 86_420.sfs --user=puppy --password=linux

Eric

PS...Beem and Henry you are not blacklisted...lol..just a permission problem

That beer sounds interesting.

I'm a bit busy with the new things coming..we'll see how this all shakes loose.

Sorry I missed the perms.

Don't worry caneri, I was just poking a little bit.
But in fact, from a bartender in the Ardennes in Belgium, I got a package of Unibroue beers.
So I had a taste of it already.
Some were good.
