I downloaded the WD version at http://cache.websupport.wdc.com/atiwd/tih_s_e.exe. Once I started reading I came across the fact that Acronis recommends setting up bootable usb drives with syslinux and then putting two acronis files on them and a syslinux.cfg for a bootable usb restore system.
I thought aha! If they can boot from syslinux I should be able to boot from Grub. Sure enough I:
1. Installed tih_s_e.exe under windows to C:
2. rebooted to Puppy431
3. created a folder on sda1 called acronis
4. copied kernel.dat and ramdisk.dat from /mnt/home/Program Files/Common Files/Acronis/TrueimageHome to /mnt/home/acronis
5. Edited my menu.1st to include:
Code: Select all
# Acronis bootable partition config begins
title Acronis Restore
rootnoverify (hd0,0)
kernel /acronis/kernel.dat vga=0x314 ramdisk_size=40000 quiet
initrd /acronis/ramdisk.dat
# Acronis bootable partition config ends
I presume the Seagate version, http://www.seagate.com/support/discwiza ... tup.en.exe will work the same. WD says theirs is only for their harddrives. I haven't tried it on anything else.
