I have been volunteered to help out with a local scout group. They want to join JOTI (Jamboree on the Internet) in October. The easy part is a radio connection to the Internet. Now I am on the scrounge for PCs.

At the moment I can lay my hands on five laptops of varying vintage. On each one I hope to have a webcam and a mic. Obviously the solution for the operating system is puppy. I'll make a .sfs overlay or overlays with the applications needed in addition to the standard distribution. I may need to make some for particular hardware combinations ( I have two possibly three EEEPCs).

Now the really hard bit, What IRC client should I use? It would be nice if the kids can type to each other, talk and given enough bandwidth actually see each other.

Regards

Try Pidgin and also Psip (under Internet menu in Puppy)

Thanks for the reply. I looked at ayttm too. The combination of ayttm and Psip plus a webcam on a website may do the trick.

I am going to track down a local who helped last year with another local scout group.
