I meant If you install the the ibiblio package posted above, it contains a modified pupzip that uses xarchiver and not xarchive, so pupzip still works as usual, xarchiver does open deb/rpm, it extract them into 2 targ.gz files, then you have to extract the data.tar.gz only, probably needs some sort of wrapper to automatically extract it. So its a 2 step process, extract the deb and then extract the data.tar.gz file.
The files xarchiver can't handle is the new format that slackware is using for there up and coming release, They are using a .txz here's an example file. http://packages.slackware.it/package.ph ... i486-3.txz

If you do a package search at http://packages.slackware.it/
and select "Slackware-current" they are all txz packages, but if you select any of the previous ones like 12.2, 12.1, 12.0 etc they are all tar.gz.

Ah ok thanks for the info and update...

.txz ...wow a change of format requiring new software...how unusual :D
at least they change the file extension as a clue :)

I am never sarcastic...never ever

Ya but a few months ago when I discovered that, it wasn't very clear on how to actually extract those packages, I said to myself oh well, lol someone else will figure it out, lol well that was like 3 months back or so and still haven't read anything that a quick fix has been made, I might have to actually look into it :)

Hi ttuuxxx

Can you let me which packages I need to download/install to create 'RAR & Zip' archives from the list of packages you have attached to your 1st post?

Thanks :)

Hi it does zip built-in, so all you need is http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... h&id=16092
for rar files.

Here are the svn sources I patched, Why did I patch them? well simply the svn releases have xfce as a dep, but the main release doesn't. So what you do is copy over all the make parts to the svn folder and compile it, it works without error and actually produces a much more stable version than the main release which was crashed very easy. The only offset to doing this is when you click about, it says its the main release number and not the svn number, but that doesn't bug me, I could go and edit the make file each time but why bother.

If I want to be able to work with all the formats listed in this thread I just install all these pets? I notice there are multiple xarchiver pets, so which one do I use? I'm a noob so pardon my ignorance.

you install them all if you want the matching extra formats, out of the box xarchiver will open a lot of formats.
