If anyone gets a stable Pupp with Virtualbox in an ISO, please upload it somewhere and point me to it.
I'm VERY new to Puppy and have been dickering with Knoppix for some time, but I really think this is a much more helpful community to try and learn teh 'Nix.
I did burn and install upup-457 and then tried to install FireFox and VirtualBox, but nothing installed. Haven't figured that one out yet. They don't appear on the Start menu?? They aren't there after reboot either.
Anyway, I really need to start using Windows again to do some videoediting and I'd really appreciate it if someone out there who's got this working to save an ISO and upload it somewherez.
VirtualBox on Puppy Linux
Hi josephdowdy,
Welcome to our forum!
Sounds like the installs probably worked, but you weren't prompted to type 'fixmenus' in a terminal, then restart the window manager JWM (Menu | Shutdown | Restart JWM.) That's what I do in Puppy 4.3.1 sometimes to get new apps into the menus.
Once you get what you want installed, you can make your own ISO with Remaster Puppy live-CD in the System/Utilities Menu.
Hope that helps,
TazOC
You can also do video editing in Lighthouse Pup with Kdenlive.

Yeah...
I did try to make a new CD from it, but it isn't bootable.
I'm sure I'll learn all these quirks as time goes along.
Thanks for the welcome and thanks for the feedback.

I don't understand all the fuss about wanting to have a special virtual box iso.
I have XP and I installed virtual box.
This gives me the possibility to create a virtual machine with a virtual HDD, ram and eventually a swap partition.
I then, through the virtual CD device boot to a regular puppy iso. Never mind the version. It could even be a Suse or a Ubuntu or whatever one.
For the puppy one, I do a full install to the virtual HDD created.
Once done, I can boot from that full install without problems.

All the fuss?
First, I am not using Windows to run a VM so that I can run Puppy, so that's not what I'm talking about.
I'm just wondering if anyone has successfully installed VirtualBox to run on Puppy and made an ISO out of it. Is there some reason I shouldn't simply ask? Am I too lazy? No, I just don't believe in reinventing the wheel.
After all, that must be the reason why there are ISOs of Puppy ready to download. Someone thinks it's a good idea to share the work they have done.
I understand that there are two of these out there but neither are current. One is VUPPY and the other I don't remember the name.
