Yes it seems to have gone again. Im not at home at the moment and dont have the ISO to hand.

The good news is, Im sharing an account with someone now at BLUEHOST. This is fully paid up for three years. I should be back tommorow or the next day and will re-upload to a temporary location (still getting my www.ecomoney.co.uk domain directed there).

Hi, am getting 440kbps here (pretty good for Blighty on a 8mb line). Maybe somethings wrong with the tube running south?

I have tried to install this version of ecopup on about 6 machine with no luck.

All seems to go well until it says that it will reboot in 5 seconds.

It does not.


When I restart, the program appears to be working. I even get the ecopup, 4.21menu. However, when I choose ecopup, I still get the old puppy not ecopup.

Any ideas?

I tried the Ecopup current release on my Dell Inspiron laptop (64mb Ram, 4 gig) last night and man was I impressed. It was super fast and had all the apps I am looking for. The screen looks great and icon placement is quite appealing.

The only one problem that I have is that my wireless card seems to not auto configure like it does on Puppy 4.2 retroK. I tried a few drivers last night and still nothing. I will try to find a driver for my card today and load it. I am not super savy with this type of stuff, so maybe someone has already gotten their D-Link DWL-630 Airplus G card to work and could help me out?

Yes, there is a bug in the install script whereby the computer does not reboot automatically. You must do it yourself . The probelm you mention with the old standard puppy 2.15ce appearing instead of the modified ecopup is caused by a file which is missing "eco_save.2fs". This contains all of the customisations and additional programs I have made. It is contained in the file "ecopup.zip" on the CD. The probable cause is that the CD you made contains a corrupt ecopup.zip (by far the largest file on the CD!). You could have a scratch on the part of the CD that holds this. Try going into the CD (using "drives" on your blue 2.15ce desktop" and clicking on the file to see if you get any errors. If not you could try unzipping the file to the root of your hard drive....this should fix things.

Ecopup is based on a very old version of Puppy, when its wireless support was not as advanced as it is now. The best way to get your card working would be to use ndiswrapper (a utility for using windows drivers under linux). You can get at this from the "connect" icon. If my memory serves me correctly, I have got ecopup working with your card a long time ago using this method.

Great work with Ecopup, it saw the SCSI drives like Puppy upup-463 scsi did, also Ubuntu 10.10, Mint 9 LXDE and OpenSuse 11.3, but it also saw the IDE hard drive on this old Dell PowerEdge 1300/800 with 512 ECC RAM. I was happily surprised, I had not taken the drive cage out yet. I bought it for $5.00 at the local college monthly sale. I will have to figure out why it had 3 SCSI controllers, if you include the one on the motherboard.

Another tech is trading me for another one just like it, since he is just learning about Linux tools after finding the Grub CD to fix a restore partition. I think he has more time to gather the newer DDR2 RAM for a newer Intel 775 MSI board with a 3.00 GHz CPU. I know quite a backward trade, but I don't know if the board works either.

I don't know if anyone alerted you already, but I noticed some spelling errors that you might want to fix for the final version. One had something to do with possession...you forgot the 's and the other was the (') between (nt) in a contraction. They were on one of the first screens we see, if that helps. I know I make some blunders sometimes, too.

Can't wait until I run across a Netbook to more easily show off what Linux can do in my travels. Here in Reno they still think Netbooks are made of gold even when they goof and buy WinCE models that are in Chinese instead of English on EBay. Let the buyer beware on Craigslist...
