any way to revert to OLDER wallpaper changer |
|
I'm a relative newbie to Linux; I've been using Puppy as an alternative to Windows, and love it. I'm now on 4.1, but I really liked the old wallpaper changer that was on 2.1X versions. That one showed thumbnails of the pics, allowed you to change the background color, etc. The one included with 4.1 just shows you a text list of file names, and no way to adjust background color. Seems a real downgrade from the earlier version. Any way to install another wallpaper changer? I've searched but found nothing. Thanks for any help.

you may try:
http://dotpups.de/dotpups/Desktop-Tools/Puppybackgroundmenu/Puppybackground.pup
might need:
http://dotpups.de/dotpups/Programming/PuppyBasic-2.6.pet
Please let me know if it works, I did not try it in Puppy 4 myself.

You can set images as wallpaper in ROX. Right-click on image, OpenWith . . . -> set_background
Then your background is set to that image.
But first you need to copy set_background to:
/root/.config/rox.sourceforge.net/OpenWith/
I've attached set_background to this post
Also, you can use the same file to set backgrounds with gqview, just add it to the edit with configurations and make sure set_background is in your path.
