WISH Checkbook 2009 |
|
WISH Checkbook 2009 is a simple home finance manager written (by me) in Tcl/Tk, requiring at least Tcl and Tk 8.5. (NOTE: The Tcl and Tk 8.5 alpha packages from Puppy 3 won't do; I got the Slackware Tcl and Tk 8.5.4 packages and turned them into .PETs.)
Features include, among others, the following:
* Quick start-up of new accounts.
* Multiple accounts, and transfers among them, can be easily managed.
* Scheduled transactions help you avoid overlooking bills; these transactions can be modified permanently (from the scheduled transaction window) or temporarily (from the account entry window).
* Categories (optional, not required!) are automatically listed and can be quickly retrieved.
* Transactions can be searched for by date, check number, transaction name, or category.
* Accounts can be exported as tab-delimited or comma-delimited text, or as HTML tables.
* Uncleared transactions from one account can easily be rolled over into a new account.
If you try this program out, please let me know if you (1) like it, (2) find any bugs, or (3) both!

I've found the accounting software in Puppy 4 to be pretty good, but when
you run reports, there isn't any way to print them. What kind of reporting
does your new program do and can the reports be printed? I need to be
able to print my year end data by category.

So far, what it can do is (1) sort the transactions by category and (2) then export an HTML table that can be printed from any program that will print HTML pages correctly. It won't yet do partial reports with only selected categories, but I could see about including that in the next version if users want it.

P.S. WISH Checkbook probably doesn't have as many features as other accounting software, but where I think it excels is in simplicity, obviousness, and being able to start new accounts really fast.

Thanks! I've got several other programs that I'm now developing 2009 versions of; I'll post them too when I get done with them.
