Subject description: Puppy as a distro downloader

Using Puppy to download new distros, but I'm missing the sha1sum function.

Hope some one on the community is interested on packing it.

Thanks

Hi dionicio,
By any chance do you mean the MD5 checksum?
Quote:
To make sure that you downloaded a genuine original file, you can compare the checksum of the ISO file with the associated file puppy-4.xx-seamonkey.iso.md5.txt (e.g. puppy-4.00-seamonkey.iso.md5.txt). Download this file as well.
Within Linux:

Open a shell and change into the directory, in which you stored the two files. Enter the following command:
md5sum puppy-4.00-seamonkey.iso
As a result you get the checksum. Open the file puppy-4.00-seamonkey.iso.md5.txt with a text program (e.g. abiword). The two checksums should be identical.

Here ya go. From Gnu Coreutils 6.9. Just remove the .zip extension (necessary for attaching it here, I don't know why) and put it in /usr/bin:
sha1sum.zip

YES! Most definitely SHS---Thanks for the Sha1sum! Very much appreciated and I'll spread this one around to my various distros on the disk. I, too, have been encountering, not just distros, but even software lately that had only the sha1sum file and no way to check it.

Thanks again mate. Smile

Amicalement/Cheers!
