Sure. Here is the output from Treesize on the unpacked Pwidgets-1.96 folder in Unleashed.

Remember this is completely uncompressed i.e. outside of any squash file system and sitting at the / level of the partition.

Cheers.

Puppy 4.2 rc2:
These includes your 'crazy' clock-skins of about 100kb Twisted Evil
I addition Pwidgets are editor files (34kb) and fixwidgets.

OK!!!

Trio, this one will make you almost as happy as me! Cool

TV working nicely on lappy, .... sleep 0, RC2, other widgets running, PuppyLinux, Ana-Clock, Date, World time, Puppyspace, Weather, ... TV.

Nice.

Crappy 8Meg graphics likes pw196.

I haven't used it much lately, typing is a pain, some broken buttons and spacebar fails unless you bang it hard.

Sorry, no screeny, get blue rectangle where Tv is ,ah well, works anyways. Smile

Cheers brothers!

That's probably inside the mounted pup_save or pup_420 file, am I correct? Confused

Try copying the directory to a point outside the squash file system and then running Treesize on it from the Filesystem menu. It's included in RC2. It will let you drill down to individual files to see where each byte is located.

Hope that helps.

Ok, here's properties of my ~/.pwidgets folder's size, bear in mind no /usr/local/pwidgets or /usr/sbin/fixwidgets or the other stuff in start up. I'm sure all that stuff isn't 300k, but I dunno. Ooh, some small plugins too, Date (modded) and... no sorry just date.

But what does it matter? Is it using too much resources?

Might mention, RC2, brand new pup_save...

(don't wory about odd times in properties screeny, I was fixing locales)

Something not quite right here. Shocked This is the /root/.pwidgets/profiles directory alone:

Are you doing some "creative accounting" there Sigmund? Laughing I'm thinking that your reading is only for the /root/.pwidgets directory level alone and doesn't include the total size of those 29 sub-directories! Razz

Fresh Puppy 4.2 rc2
Let me count for you:
182 kb - /root/.pwidgets/ (including 108 kb of WhoDo clock-skins)
32 kb - /usr/local/pwidgets
97kb - fonts
2 kb - fixwidgets
27 kb - xwinwrap, blendpics, resizepng (usr/bin/)
21 kb - xonclock

361 kb - Sum
243 kb - Sum without WhoDo clock-skins.

Also be aware that png clockskins affects the compressed iso much more than codelines, because png are already compressed and will have the same size in the iso/pet.

Sigmund

Man, you must follow NRL WhoDo! Lots of creative accounting been going on for years to dodge the ol' salary cap! Didn't they coin the phrase? (sorry for off topic)

I noticed that too. When I pet 'em, same size. Sad

This is the one I have the problem with, Sigmund. See my screenshot of Treesize above. You cannot possibly have only 82kb (excluding clocks) in the /root/.pwidgets directory when the /root/.pwidgets/profiles subdirectory alone contains 100kb. Your figures are just not correct for the /root/.pwidgets directory in total.

It doesn't matter all that much to me except to say that if you DID manage to magically trim 800kb off the size then I could make very good use of it!

Server definitely 'iffy' at moment.

Lots of blank 'done' pages and error 500s

Warren
Your screenshot tells that /root/.pwidgets/profiles/default is 24kb
Let's take a look inside
Code:
# ls -lR /root/.pwidgets/profiles/default/
/root/.pwidgets/profiles/default/:
total 5
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 241 2009-02-22 11:03 pwidgets-exec_conky
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root  10 2009-02-22 11:03 pwidgets-exec_xli
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 181 2009-02-22 11:03 pwidgets-exec_xonclock
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root  44 2009-02-22 11:03 pwidgets_list
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 112 2009-02-22 11:03 pwidgetsrc
#

Counting my official file-tree:

Code:
# du -bc /root/.pwidgets/profiles/default/*
241     /root/.pwidgets/profiles/default/pwidgets-exec_conky
10      /root/.pwidgets/profiles/default/pwidgets-exec_xli
181     /root/.pwidgets/profiles/default/pwidgets-exec_xonclock
44      /root/.pwidgets/profiles/default/pwidgets_list
112     /root/.pwidgets/profiles/default/pwidgetsrc
588     total

But, my mistake could be that dirs counts 4096 bytes. Embarassed Pwidgets contains maybe a too complex directory structure. But still 916kb, - now way. I think your counting program uses command du-khc instead of du -bc.

See the difference:
Code:
# du -khc /mnt/sda6/prioritet\ 1/privat/prg/bash/pwidgets/pwidgets-1.9-6/root/.pwidgets/profiles
24K     /mnt/sda6/prioritet 1/privat/prg/bash/pwidgets/pwidgets-1.9-6/root/.pwidgets/profiles/Puppy___right
24K     /mnt/sda6/prioritet 1/privat/prg/bash/pwidgets/pwidgets-1.9-6/root/.pwidgets/profiles/system___left
24K     /mnt/sda6/prioritet 1/privat/prg/bash/pwidgets/pwidgets-1.9-6/root/.pwidgets/profiles/default
24K     /mnt/sda6/prioritet 1/privat/prg/bash/pwidgets/pwidgets-1.9-6/root/.pwidgets/profiles/system-corner___top-left
100K    /mnt/sda6/prioritet 1/privat/prg/bash/pwidgets/pwidgets-1.9-6/root/.pwidgets/profiles
100K    total

Code:
# du -bc /mnt/sda6/prioritet\ 1/privat/prg/bash/pwidgets/pwidgets-1.9-6/root/.pwidgets/profiles
4873    /mnt/sda6/prioritet 1/privat/prg/bash/pwidgets/pwidgets-1.9-6/root/.pwidgets/profiles/Puppy___right
4638    /mnt/sda6/prioritet 1/privat/prg/bash/pwidgets/pwidgets-1.9-6/root/.pwidgets/profiles/system___left
4684    /mnt/sda6/prioritet 1/privat/prg/bash/pwidgets/pwidgets-1.9-6/root/.pwidgets/profiles/default
4631    /mnt/sda6/prioritet 1/privat/prg/bash/pwidgets/pwidgets-1.9-6/root/.pwidgets/profiles/system-corner___top-left
22922   /mnt/sda6/prioritet 1/privat/prg/bash/pwidgets/pwidgets-1.9-6/root/.pwidgets/profiles
22922   total

Hi all

This time I'm not voting for pop up warning to remind user to do configs, they KNOW there are configs! Same like they have to do set up when first booting puppy. What would help is a help button, which will open a file explaining things. What is important is widgets works straight away, though it's not their personal setup.
