That's an idea...what do I need to do tu upgrade it? Because I can't deinstall 1.6.3...so do I simply install version 2.0 over it?

switched to opera.beta2 in puppy421 as primary boot today.
moving ripple to non-primary felt like when you loose all those best friends to all those marriages all over again.
sad to see all this effort fall by the wayside.
and the earth goes around another day.

:D Hello,
Yep, sad to see that one go by the wayside, but Dinky had a life to live...
Ripple was the inspiration for Lupen.. Still trying to figure out how he got Compiz to run without xfce, using just Cairo.. Genius...

I disagree :wink: . It's better :lol: .

At least in Lupu 525 and with my old Gericom. It feels like as fast as Compiz in Ripple and Skype is working. This never happened with Compiz. Also the fast switching between Beryl and Openbox without restarting X... it's genious.

@aarf
The ripple_06-5.tar.gz file in my first link contains initrd.gz, vmlinuz and pup411ripple_06-5.sfs (time 18 Feb 2009). The name of the last one should indicate your version. It's the first time that I use megaupload. If there are problems, we'll find another way, e.g opera unite.

@puppyluvr
For a long time I thought that using Compiz without another WM did the trick for running so fast. I did a lot of testing during the lucid progress, and the real bottleneck for my hardware was the missing support of newer proprietary drivers for my old ATI, and the last driver which supported my graphic card didn't support newer xorgs :evil: .
The difference between only Compiz and Compiz with xfce was not so big.
That's the reason I couldn't use your Lupen.

I just saw that eeetiger.sfs is missing at puppylinuxstuff.meownplanet.net/aarf/eeetiger/

My eeetiger.iso has 257.4 MB. Built 27 Jul 2008.

Anyway, I've uploaded it at http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ETJF89DH
md5sum is here.

For EeePc's (at least for 701 and 900) you also need madwifi-hal-0.10.5.6-r3861-k2.6.25.16.pet
417.2 KB for working wifi. It's included in the latest versions of ripple, but not in eeetiger.

@James C
Glad to see that it works.

could you please re-upload?

Got it.

I don't know why I didn't get it at the time when it was fresh.
Certainly advanced for its time.
It's the only Puppy I have ever found slightly confusing, and it doesn't play well on my machine.
Anyway, it fills in a gap in my Puppy collection.

I would suggest that it should have a newbie 'health' warning..
'Don't try this at home'. :)

Thanks, Geoffrey.
