Which ISP/dongle for wireless broadband in Puppy 4.1?
Hi
I'm about to give away a laptop ( quite an old one ) and I'd love to set up wireless broadband on it for the user. Sadly they don't have a wifi router in their house.
The laptop is USB 1 but I've been running a wireless dongle on it ok ( a belkin ) and it plays BBCi player fine in Puppy 4.1 ( a testament to how good puppy is ). I did try putting a USB2 PCMCIA card in the lappy but it's not working........anyway I digress.............
I've seen the adverts for Vodaphone and now Virgin for wireless broadband ( with their dongles - you know the wireless £15 a month thingy with a 1GB cap).
Can anyone please recommend an ISP and a wireless dongle that will work with Puppy 4.1 - is it straightforward?

So you mean the connection to the mobile network (gprs,edge,3-G)
Beware that there is coverage and at gprs speed it's slow.
Look first at the threads here by searching on gprs with the puppysearch link (see my sig) _________________ Time savers:
Find packages in a snap and install using Puppy Package Manager (Menu).
Consult Wikka
Use peppyy's puppysearch

Yes 3g - ( I assume it's called 3g for this sort of thing ).
My friend has it and says its ok for hotmail / Facebook....not to stream though.....
