the puppy-4.1.1-k2.6.25.16-seamonkey ISOs at

http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/puppylinux/

and

http://ftp.nluug.nl/ftp/pub/os/Linux/distr/puppylinux/

show as different sizes, being 94 and 63 MB respectively.

So there may be a mirroring problem

Hi Paul,

I just checked and the sizes agree now at 9:28 NYC time. I'm wondering if at that hour of the morning when you went (forum time) if the file was still uploading or the servers were still synching? That could have been it perhaps?

Hope this helps.

Cheers!

Downloaded it from http://ftp.nluug.nl/ftp/pub/os/Linux/distr/puppylinux/ and it downloaded very quickly to here (UK), and runs perfectly. Upgraded from 4.1 with no problems. Love that error message fix in Rox............

PostPosted: Mon 03 Nov 2008, 15:44    Post subject: Looking good but a few problems

New network wizard VG

Static IP works Yipee

DVD Icon partly covering HDD icon

Boot speed very slow (16 seconds searching HDDs for Pupsave file!)

Speed when up and running, brilliant. (Frugal)

Still no facility to remove wallpaper on setter (If you click on "Clear" it wipes the Pinboard and not clear the wallpaper like you might think.

Overall fantastic. Well done to all.
Thanks
Tony

If you do it via an icon - eg click on 'background' it works ok - but yes, the wallpaper setter clear button is a little over enthusiastic.
I'm not a great fan of icons though, so let's call it a 'feature'....

4.1.1 itself runs quite well on a 300mhz PII laptop (frugal, on a CF card in IDE adaptor).
Seamonkey loads in about 12 seconds, as opposed to 30 seconds for Firefox in Wolfpup.

try FirePup
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=34876
and see/report how long it takes to open up and maybe compare loading websites Smile
but make sure your previous firefox is gone
-Delete usr/lib/firefox or
-Delete ./root/.mozilla/firefox folder (hidden folder)

you also might want to delete seamonkey usr/lib/seamonkey to make it a even memory playing ground
have fun
