Cups Password Rejected

just cannot get this hp j3680 to stick. hpijs2.89 already in. Cups password bounces and rebounces. Any ideas, esp from ttuuxxx appreaciated.
Which cups version does Firepup use? I got fed up with the version in Puppy 3.01, and changed to the earlier version which is in Puppy 4- no password nonsense!
