Speak-Pup RC!

#1 Post by Trobin »

Speak-Pup RC1 is being uploaded to File Factory, as this is being written. I tried to get it up on puppylinux.ca but the connections was refused by the server. i'll try again later and then File Factory can be used as an alternative.

The Line up is as follows

Base Operating System................................................Puppy 4.1 retro
bc-1.06.95.pet................................................................calculator
cdp-0.33.13.pet..............................................................cd player
cdw-0.2.4.pet.................................................................cd writer
ctorrent-dnh3.3.pet........................................................torrent client
e3-2.7.0-1.pet................................................................text processor
ncurses-5.6.pet..............................................................ncurses libraries
sane-backends-1.0.19.pet.............................................scanner programs
gocr.pup...................................................................Optical Character Reader
MOC.............................................................................MP3 player
yafc.pet.........................................................................FTP client
ytree.pet........................................................................filemanager
index.zip.......................................................................flat filer
irssi.x.pet......................................................................irc chat client
java1506.pup................................................................java
freetts...........................................................................speech engine
yasr..............................................................................screen reader
brltty-3.10......................................................................soft brailler
clacct...........................................................Command Line Accountant
aspell...........................................................................spell checker
alpine 2.00.pet.............................................................email client
links-2.2.0....................................................................text web browser
firelog...........................................................................Internet Utilities
Simplebashbu...............................................................Backup script
various scripts to handle menus, scanning, gocr, and voip.

Okay, the file is uploaded at:
http://www.filefactory.com/file/7cb208/ ... puprc1.iso

MD5SUM = 5051d8937f3dc23bc5bf835146b8ed57 speakpuprc1.iso

This thing needs to be run into the ground. Partucularily if there are groups interested in the thing. What works, what doesn't work, what could have been done better.

Areas of interest:
--improving the voice
-----could you live with it if that was all you had to guide you.
-----Does listening to it with the programs drive you up the wall

--Alpine 2.00
----This version is supposed to work with Gmail.

--Scanning and Optical Character Recognition
----Do the scripts work?

--IRC Chat
----I've listened to yasr, freetts and irssi. I think it's the best I've found yet. What do you think?

--pjsua--How could it be made as fuctional as possible?

--Anything and everything.

:D I wish you every success with this.

Be interested in how others get on.
Are you considering working on an SFS?
This would enable speech for any version of Puppy . . .

@ eric - - Thanks. I'll mgive it a try later

@ Lobster. I think that an sfs would be somewhat confusing, unless the user was aware that he would end up with a command line puppy. Freetts and Yasr do not work with the GUI running. As well, not every program works with all versions of Puppy.

Hi Trobin,

I uploaded speakpuprc1.iso to the Florida server here

http://puppylinux.igsobe.com/puppylinux ... puprc1.iso

md5sum here

http://puppylinux.igsobe.com/puppylinux ... so.md5.txt

Please check the the md5sum....I checked from my side but the file says 111mb. the md5sum matches your file but the file size is smaller than you posted.

Best,
Eric

I found the problem and it's annoying me no end. The remaster did not include any of the scripts I had put in, nor did it carry over any hidden files made when installing the programs.

The programs themselves are there though.

Dougal's improvements of pupremaster works well in 4.1. I've posted something here.
