Hello Roger Hunter,
Did you boot pfix=ram?? If you have a pupsave from any Puppy, it will interfere with Puppy until you make a seperate save for the new release.

Hi;
That was it.
But why is that happening? It asks which one to use and I told it 0 yet still came up wrong.

IDK, but the "0" sometimes fails me too...So I always boot new Pups pfix=ram..
@ If you want to give me some feedback, ie, type of comp, ram, video, ect...and how Icepup performs, and any "bugs" ect...it would be appreciated...

John;
Happy to oblige but I haven't used it enough yet. I was attracted to the look. That polar bear cub is a real grabber!
I'll have to reset the theme, it's too dark to read easily. pcPuppyOS recognised my Logitech Marble but IcePup didn't.
Similarly, Firefox is better than the IcePup version IMHO but that's just a matter of personal taste.
I'm running a Dell Optiplex GX260 with 2.8GHz CPU, 1Gb RAM,and 2 HD, a 320Gb and a 40Gb. The big drive is partitioned with WinXP, Win98SE and a bunch of Linux distros, all with a grub boot. The only problem is that there's a hardware conflict that won't let 98 run with any decent resolution.
I only stay with XP because I program in TrueBasic which won't work under Linux. I should try Wine on it, I guess.
Puppy is my favorite distro because it just WORKS (usually)

Not in any detail.
The brief look I had, I wan't impressed.
TrueBasic is a clear, structured language, easy to use.
PuppyBasic didn't seem to be any of that.

Have you considered a VBox XP in your Puppy?
I swear XP runs faster in VBox on Puppy than a native install, but IDK how!!!
I did some tests running Puppy 4.00, running XP in VBox, running Puppy 109ce in Qemu!!
In 768mb ram! A "virtual", "virtual", machine..
Even Vista would run in VBox on your machine, with as much CPU/ram as you have, but Vista sux...But running XP in VBox on Puppy frees up 1 partition for me...And of course, if XP gets a virus, ect, its just a VDI, easy to back up and replace....
Ive even made a Puplet, "Undercoverpup" (lol) that is for "faux" XP installs...
You boot it to a Puppy / Icewm desktop, set-up Puppy, (Alsa/Wlan ect...) and make a pupsave, then reboot..When Icewm starts, and Vbox starts (automatically) you create a VDI (outside of your pupsave), and install XP onto it...Once Xp is set-up in Vbox, you reboot, and drop out of X..then start Jwm..All you see is VBox...Start XP...Viola, XP runs as if it was the main OS, with no access to Puppy in Jwm.. ..On reboot to Jwm, it only displays the VBox selection screen, and will not react to other user input. Only by exiting X, and starting Icewm, do you get access to Puppy..It was for a "special purpose"...

John;
I only understood about 1/3 of that but it sounded like an answer to my problem.
Thanks, I'll look into it.

Here is a link to get you started!!
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?search_id=1578850730&t=31630
Also there is a Puplet with VBox pre installed, called Vuppy, but the 3 pets install easily enough. Ignore the missing dependancy`s as VBox will run fine.
If you install XP on VBox, look at the "guest additions" for XP..
Good Luck..

Hello Roger,
Can you re-title this thread, as it confuses with the "real" Icepup thread???
Thanks, Jay...
