@@@Note@@@
when saving a file don't save it as ".msc" due to an error when opening.

save it as ".xml"
then to open it select
Score/open and select "view all files" at the bottom of the list and you'll see your .xml file
select it and thats it :)

Downloaded it and installed it into a fresh pupsave file. I haven't had a lot of time to mess with it so I haven't done a very complete trial, but it opens and runs the basics. I'm able to set up a new file, select parameters such as time signature and instrumentation, and I'm able to add notes. The playback functions even appear to work. This is very nice. Thank you ttuuxxx.

Over the next day or two I'll try to give it some more time for trialing.

I've given this a more thorough workout and found that it's pretty nice. I've only been doing piano scores, so I haven't worked with any other instrumentation yet. The interface is a little sensitive -- you have to be careful how you place your mouse -- but after a little practice I pretty well got the hang of it. If you're a musician, you're probably used to the idea of practice. :) I haven't actually printed to paper yet, but I've printed to pdf and it looks good.

The only problem I have, and this may be due to the not-so-great resolution of my monitor, is that the notes seem to be placed just a bit high on the staff, so sometimes it's hard to tell if a note is on the line or in the lower area of the space just above it. When printed to pdf, the placement appears fine. Like I say, this may not be a problem with a better monitor.

There is a pretty good user's manual at http://musescore.org/en/handbook

Thank you very much ttuuxxx for compiling and posting Musescore as a .pet package; have been using it for almost two months now, very fine indeed (although a bit annoying to install with all its dependencies). Puppy goes one step further for musicians! 8)

Many thanks from me too. I finally got time to try this and it looks like the notation program that I've been missing. I do mostly abc's but sometimes it's more comfortable to get notes straight to stave. And my daughter is not so devoted to abc notation as I am.

I also have enjoyed using this application. I discovered that by zooming in the work space the mouse movement doesn't have to be so exact.

Tnx, but that one leads to http://salis.sutteryuba.com/cms.php?act ... ic_Editors
which stalls, maybe some server maintenance ?

I'll try again later...

O.K. there was nothing wrong with the server I think.
Dwnld with Puppy 4.1.1 on Acer Aspire One, it was slow, & stalled about midway.
Using Linpus lite it went real fast about 500KB/s on wifi, but the file is 22.6 MB when mozzilla anounced a 8.8 MB size.
I've tried to install it and got a pink err msg about "unable to extract archive".

By the way I meant to write "the link is dead :( not :) OOOOPPPSSSS.

Tnx a lot !
It works just fine (demo). 8)

I have the same problem with nted-1.4.15.pet on http://salis.sutteryuba.com/cms.php?act ... ic_Editors
But it's not as critical as MuseScore wich is a must have.

It worked fine yesterday, but this morning after the splash screen it dies.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled it, and ran a dependencies check which was OK, but no luck.
I modified the default opening file to my current work piece, could this have jammed it ?

I would say so. Since it works fine out of the box, But I'm still not that impressed with QT apps and Puppy. They just pass on a scale of working and not working.

It's all fixed up.
The mistake was that I saved my score file as .msc instead of .xml
I had to rm a .conf file left over by uninstall.

i might as well spill the beans : This is part of my "big" project :

pupitup (Pup it up) pup up the volume, a music oriented puplet, an all included USB stick mini audio studio.

Release forecast : ASAP (Hopefully before New-Year).

here's a sneak preview screenshot.

A little more tidying up, and soft tuning.
