netgear wg311v2 pci

#1 Post by paul.sijpkes »

I've tried everything to get this card working with ndiswrapper using both WEP and WPA encryption with wpa_supplicant. The network is detected, but I cannot connect. I've tried setting it up manually and with the wizard.
:?

My desktop system specs are:

Pentium III
128 MB RAM
8 GB Harddrive

Has anyone else had any luck with the wg311v2? If so I would like to know your secret!

Otherwise, I will buy a v3 as it seems people have had far more success with this one.

cheers,
Paul

I would recommend Googling "linux wireless lan support" and
looking up the various netgear cards.

best of luck

The Netgear WG311 v2 contains a TI ACX111 chipset.
The older driver for this chipset in Puppy 3.x/4.0 does not support WPA encryption.

Puppy 4.1.x contains a newer Linux wifi driver called "acx" which should work OK with WPA encryption.
But just to be sure - run "lsmod" to check that the necessary "acx-mac80211" has also loaded.
