Looks cool. I'll have to add it when I have time.
Thanks! I grabbed it from here:
http://puppyfiles.ca/dotpupsde/dotpups/Games/Pingus/

And also the dependencies for Puppy 4 (includes libSDL and libboost_signals.so and libiconv.so.2)

x-soldier space war runs off screen and I cannot reshape the window.

This is on a Panasonic Toughbook CF-27 with a 10" display - xorg video is set to 800x600

The problem is on the vertical where the bottom of the x-soldier window runs off the bottom of the display.

Maximize-x, maximize-y, and maximize have no impact.

The kids are asking for enigma:
http://linux.softpedia.com/get/GAMES-EN ... 2613.shtml

and krunner:
http://www.tuxmachines.org/node/32726

Anyone make .PETs of either of these yet, please?

I think I may have opened a Pandora's Box with this Linux games thing!

Hey Edoc,

Just uploaded an Enigma pet, but I don't get what's with KRunner. It doesn't seem to be a game.
It's the "run command" dialog of KDE, it was already available for KDE 3.5.x, but it got a new appearance and functions, now it's completely plugin based, and shares your plasmoid theme.
:?

Enigma requires SDL BTW, but you've got it anyway due to SuperTux.

Don't know about KRunner, I don't play games. Perhaps it requires KDE?

Hi Dejan555,

Edited the Blockrage link on the main post. Should have told you there's already a link to Vietris to save you trouble.

I downloaded those two and they work fine, thanks!

Here is an interesting one "AKFQuiz project lets you easily make your own quiz games, learning exercises or psychotests."

Here's The List of Learning Games:

Foogazi.com has Blinken, GCompris, KMessedWords, KWordQuiz, mFlash, SchoolsPlay, TuxMath, TuxMathScrabble, TuxPaint, Tux Typing, Typing Trainer, and TuxWordSmith.

MITOPENCOURSEWARE supposedly has some interesting resources as well.

WDYT?

Wow, some of these would be awesome to occupy the children during our trip!

Any chance of any of them becoming .PET's to be sure they load and run correctly, please?

Tremulous, Torcs, Flight Gear, Vega Strike, Open Transport Tycoon Deluxe (OpenTTD), Warzone 2100, and Wormux looks to be the ones they'd most enjoy.

If I wasn't driving I might be tempted to try Flight Gear nd Torcs myself ... perhaps in the hotel room? :-)

Just asked my son and he said he wasn't certain of the name, "It is something-"runner" with a little stick figure who runs around doing stuff to gather points. How's that for descriptive" :-)

Meanwhile I have loaded up a bunch of the games to the CF-28 laptop and all of them work fine. The CF-27 has some trouble with the more demanding games like SuperTux and Enigma (slow CPU and limited memory and no openGL).

The children were really excited when I mentioned the car racing games - and the oldest asked if the train simulator had been ported to Puppy Linux - seems he likes to create spectacular crashes ... sigh.

My intent was not to instruct you what to use or not to use, that is entirely up to you.

I just wanted those who might follow that link to be aware of the unexpected content - some parents (esp. of teens) and some adults (with addictions to bad stuff on the Internet) try to limit their exposure to temptation. (It is the counselor, parent, and pastor in me speaking, I suppose.)

I shouldn't have mentioned the possible car race game ... now that's all they keep asking about! Arghhhhh!

Anyone tried to .PET this one?
http://torcs.sourceforge.net/

Will do some searches, perhaps one of them has been made into a .PET or .PUP someone.

In the meanwhile I found this small repository of Puppy Linux games:
http://puppylinux.org/wiki/archives/old ... tion/games

Woah! Here's a load of Linux games!

Hi Doc,

I petted Torcs, but haven't been able to test as I my laptop doesn't support Xorg. If you want to have a go it's here.

Scavenger and Holtz's Castle petted on the first page of this topic but it seems the others you mention haven't been petted yet.

If you try out Torcs, let me know how it goes.
