"DANGER WILL ROBINSON!"
I did not realize that your app would replace Seamonkey as my default Web browser ... I was thinking it was just to add the little search window to Seamonkey.
I ran the PetGet uninstall and after removing your custom browser and rebooting it restored Seamonkey.
Is there a way to just add the search window? I like the integration of Seamonkey.

Sorry edoc my search engine is google based and works better than any other puppy based search engine. If you have another client which is better than google for search results please give me a link and I'll alter themedoc wrote:Your search engine looks great! I have downloaded and loaded it - I presume that I will need to either close and re-open Seamonkey or reboot to see it?
Also, it appears from your image that it is based on Google - would it require major or minor code changes to switch the engine behind your engine to Clusty?
I have some philosophical problems with Google which they seem to exacerbate regularly.
I wonder if this description of the dependencies for SuperTux may not be correct for 4.11? Perhaps more than xorg_OPENGL is required to meet the openGL requirements of SuperTux?SDL and SDL_mixer are needed. If you installed Barrage, you have them. You may also need xorg_OPENGL and xorg_DRI_MODULES from petget. Installs to my-roxapp

Here there are 3 games that I compiled on puppy 4.1 and packed as sfs modules:

Block Rage
ViTetris

http://clusty.com is an excellent search engine without the politics of google. I use it as my default Seamonkey search engine on all 4 installs here.ttuuxxx wrote: Sorry edoc my search engine is google based and works better than any other puppy based search engine. I don't know how you call google so I don't know if it is as simple as changing the URL or more complex.
I know that google is following the MS model of trying to embed it's proprietary search features everywhere to reinforce their monopoly - which is why I believe that using an alternative search engine is a good keep-the-market-free market strategy - even if it may be slightly less easy.
IMHO, YMMV ...

Any chance of getting your little search window in Seamonkey, please?
It would be really handy - might keep some of the Puppy folks from getting upset with me for asking the same questions or for asking questions that have answers buried somewhere in the Forum archives!

hmmmm thats a catch 22, I made those search engines for FirePup users to enjoy, actually I did release them for Seamonkey a couple weeks back on the forum somewhere. But its more complicated to use. I might either work out a "how to" or just release a version of Seamonkey with the window and search engines included, That might be the better route to follow.edoc wrote:Thanks!ttuuxxx wrote:Yes just install this little pet package and seamonkey will be defaultedoc wrote:WARNING WILL ROBINSON!!!

I found this thread:
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... ?p=253802
It sounds as if there may be a hardware-specific set of hoops through which one must jump to get openGL to work.
Hopefully the answer is here:

If I understand correctly LIT3 will manage the locating and installation of just about anything specifically designed for Puppy - including, hopefully, solving my openGL problem.
Yes?

Barrage is not the only source of the SDL files needed for SuperTux according to a post here:

My old CF-27 is choking on all of the stuff I've thrown at it so I will need to reformat to clean it all out, reload Puppy 4.11-Normal ext3 Frugal and try again with a set of files I have gathered for the effort.Try getting this package http://tdem.net63.net/linux/files/libSDL_full.pet . Only 335 kb!

As noted on a thread titled "SDL, OpenGL and Mesa?" here:

...
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 587#254587

Any thoughts, please?Loaded GLh.pet and libSDL_full.pet then SuperTux.
Same as before, SuperTux loads but "openGL not supported".
NOTE1: It appears that loading libSDL.pet before GLh.pet does not work, SuperTux would not open - I had to reload libSDL_full.pet then reload SuperTux after GLh.pet Is that predictable behavior?
NOTE2: I have my-documents symlinked to workaround the size limitation of pup_save.2fs - it is still on the same sda1 partition - the CF-27 only has a 3.32GB HDD.

Why the 2005 version of SuperTux rather than something more recent, please?
I am wondering if this version has openGL challenges because it is so much older than the associated dependencies?
The NO openGL version is 0.3.0 and is here:
http://prdownload.berlios.de/supertux/s ... 86.package
I have no idea if it will run on Puppy Linux but will give it a try - I am guessing that someone will need to create a PET
0.3.0 is also available with an openGL dependency (not sure why) and o.3.1 is the unstable cutting-edge version - both also probably would need a PET created.
WDYT?

Another fan of clusty.com here! I use google so rarely the last 4 years I have to scratch my head to rememebr how to spell it...
Here's the old version of supertux which requires no opengl or hardwrae acceleration:
http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/dis ... tux-0.1.3/
Just beside that dir, I have the newer versio also, but I have not tested it because of no accelerated graphics here. The newer version also require more libs than the old one.
When you need hard-to-find libs, you might look here as I have lots of slack-packages for older or rare stuff:

How would I load this cleanly into Puppy 4.11, please?
I know that a PET or DotPup has been structured to put things in the correct Puppy-specific directories and folders but have not had very good experiences with non-Puppy application and games.
WDYT?

Interestingly SuperTux installed without error and appeared in the Menu under Fun after a Reboot.
However, when clicked it does not execute nor does it generate an error.
However, when I open a console/rxvt and type "supertux" I get the error that it cannot find libSDL_image-1.2.so.0
This is on a Panasonic Toughbook CF-28
So, I loaded libSDL_full.pet then tried uperTux from the menu - it balced the screen then till didn't run.
So I opened console/rxvt again and types supertux again and this time got:
Datadir: /usr/bin/../share/supertux
Warning: No joysticks are available
Error: Couldn't load musicfile
/usr/bin/../share/supertux/music/SALCON.MOD
This appears to confirm my prior concern that tgz2pet may not handle all of the folder/library needs - is that a fair assessment?
