My-files.sh Subject description: Move personal directories out of pup_save file |
|
Bonjour,
For not overburden the pup_save file with lot of musics, videos, photos etc. files, i submit this script which permit to :
1- select one HD, one partition or (if plugged before it'is launched) one removable media (USB) to move the directories /root/my-applications and /root/my-documents out of /root,
2- create symlinks of these directories in /root
3- move them in a new directory called My-files,
4- create 3 new directories (my-music, my-films, and my-photos) in my-documents.
5- automount the partition or media selected.
6- create a desktop icon for direct acces to My-files directory
It creates a Menu entry in Filesystem : My-files.sh
Download the Pet package
Cordialement

To solve the problem I made /root/my-documents and /root/my-applications
links to dirs. on the /home partition.
That`s where most of the bloat gets added.

Not to snivel, but... I hate the M$ convention of: My-Bullshit... My-Ass !!!
This should end for it`s sheer stupidity, and it`s a M$ invention.
How about: /docs, /apps, /pics, etc., with links: Docs, Apps, Pics, etc.?

well I agree..I find the 'my' tag patronising. What about plain english like Documents, Programs etc...I think is psycological to get windows users to be possesive and pamper to egos or somthing of that ilk....for example Msn groups have 'managers' instead of moderators.....pass me the executive toy....
oooo that feels better...now let's cut the crap
mike ...or should that be .... my-mike (manager)

So what? Does the file work? Does it help? If you don't like the name, rename it.
Man, Barry must have really screwed up when he used my-documents, my-applications, my-roxapps. You guys really should complain to him. Perhaps you've re-written the code to get rid of the hateful MS conventions?
Perhaps I can send you some cheese to go with the Whine?

mikeb; ............. LOL !!! ..............
Great... Another guy with a good sense of humor! I like it...!
The actual dirs. should be: /docs, /apps, /pics, etc., short and simple.
Links can be used to massage delicate M$ egos, like:
My-Crappy_OS
My-M$_CrashBox
My-Monopolistic_Win.7
