SurfPup 1.02
SurfPup 1.02
SurfPup 1.02 is now available. It is only 48.2 MB and comes with the latest NetSurf web browser. It has wireless and wired network support. It is based on 2.13 and so is incredibly stable. SurfPup can be downloaded at http://www.surfpup.info/.

I re-mastered the iso fixing the default web page. I just called it 1.02r1.Netsurf opens to a page about Icepup?
That is a very good idea. I run mine from a 64 MB USB without the "zdrive" archive. Typically I have about 18 MB usable space before I start surfing the internet. It would be nice if I could just set it to flush the browsing history each time it closes. If you took out, say Xorg and all the default simlinks, icons, ect,
I bet you could shave another 5 or 10 mb.

If you'd like I can redesign the Puppy web desktop to be included as the default webpage http://pupweb.org/desktop
Sorry, I did everything in lower case this time but forgot to change the case in the link. It should be http://www.toddrichardson.com/surfpup/f ... 1.02r1.iso. I will fix the link on the website.

I would love that. . .thank you!If you'd like I can redesign the Puppy web desktop to be included as the default webpage

I like the idea of this pup, but I am curious...
It seems that it will not boot from a hard drive using grub like other pups do. I have booted Picopup, MicroMuppy, ChurchPup, Puppy 4.00 and Barebones Dingo from hard drive using grub. However, SurfPup fails to fully boot complaining it cant find something.
Error message (wrote down on paper and typed. Not literal but roughly what was said:
Here is a copy of what I tried to boot it with (I tried both and the results were the same, also note this is grub entires):

Also tried:title surfpup

Any ideas?title surfpup

you need more params for p213 frugal
here is my grub entry for icepup:
title Sea-IcePup [p213] on hda1
root (hd0,0)/puppy/sea-icepup
kernel /vmlinuz PMEDIA=idehd root=/dev/ram0 PUPMODE=12 PDEV1=hda1 DEV1FS=vfat PUPSAVE=vfat,hda1,/puppy/barepup/pup_save-seaice.2fs
# note!! rename zdrv214 to zdrv213 & add-app_214 to add-app_213
initrd /initrd.gz
This works for me, coexist with w98, wxp & many puplets. Adjust for your setup. You may get away without using PUPSAVE but you need the rest.
Params must be in capitals as above, and psubdir was not used until p216 & p217.

It looks like vg1 answered your question. I always run from USB so have never had to deal with that. Also, if you need to add something, select the "Package installation manager" and then "Download and install a package from the internet". I typically just create an ISO when re-mastering. However, the one time I ripped a CD instead of an ISO, I had to install the "cdrtools" package.
Thank you vg1!
Todd
P.S.: Technosaurus, I sent you an email, did you get it?
