new derivitive mythpup need help or suggestions

#1 Post by iscraigh »

I run mythtv for my media center, I have an apple tv frontend a mixed frontend/backend
and another pc that will have no harddrive as a frontend.
I have tried to get minimyth running on a usb stick with no success yet. I have puppy 3.01 and used gslapt to install mythtv .21
worked like a charm in a test but bigger than it should be 269mb
with dependancies.

I am going to start with fatfree 3.01 xorg
Add myth and myth plugins
try to remove mysql and myth-backend and anything else I can.
Add nvidia driver (I need them) and any other drivers I can for video
Set mythfrontend to auto start

Future

Add lirc and some easy ways to configure it if possible

If any one else runs myth and is interested in giving me a hand making it as lean and fast as possible let me know.

I usually just use tv out on my video card to watch movies from the pc, Just regular puppy, But at 109MB sure I'll try it out, I might even buy one of those tv cards listed at the website. Also I have a ati remote control would that work on this? I never tried it on linux just on XP.

This is a frontend only so you would need a working backend to connect too.

My first version wa 200mb and had the full myth suite but no tv card drivers, if you added these it would work for you.
Do we have a v4l and ivtv pet??

Perhaps I could make a full version and a frontend only version.

For a download link go to mythpup.shawwebspace.ca

The first link is for the full one
the second link (uploading now) is for the frontend only.

Thanks

Sorry forgot to answer about the ati remote.

They do work in linux very well using lirc, something I intend to add to this puplet as I move forward.

Looking for a bit of help

In myth tv you have an option for a preferred mixer to adjust volume
the options are /dev/mixer and alsa:default

I have tried both but nothing will adjust the volume

I also have a choice between master and pcm

From a command line if I run

Code: Select all

setvol 4 10
My volume goes down. So I know it is the pcm I want. I tried setting myth to use /usr/bin/setvol, no luck, I tried /usr/bin/setvol 4 , no luck.
Any ideas

Thanks

Craig
