Realplayer 11 on Puppy not seen by BBC iPlayer Sub_title: Can't get iPlayer to work on Puppy 4 |
|
Bring up bbc.co.uk/radio2 and select "listen now".
Says "Need Realplayer".
Get the pet. Install Realplayer. Petget confirms it's installed.
Reboot for good luck.
Try bbc again.
Says "Need Realplayer".
I assume that the plugin element hasn't installed? Or something. Any ideas anyone?

I think maybe you need to do Preferences again; is that there in the box that says you need Realplayer?

If you select about:plugins in the browser is the realplayer plugin seen there?

With Puppy 4.00 and Seamonkey, I got realplayer-10.pup (from http://www.puppylinux.org/downloads/software, in multimedia) working with the bbc site (maybe realplayer-11 will be the same?)
After installing it, it doesn't show up in about:plugins, so
| Code: |
cp /usr/local/RealPlayer/mozilla/*.* /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/
|
After that, it looks like it going to work but then complains that it can't find an appropriate realplay in the system path, so
| Code: |
cd /usr/local/bin
rm realplay
ln -s /usr/local/RealPlayer/realplay

Hello,
I've just managed to get Realplayer 11 to play the live music streams from BBC radio in NOP4.00 by doing the following:
1. Install Realplayer 11.pet from link above.
2. Copy nphelix.so and nphelix.xpt from usr/local/realplayer-11/mozilla to root/.mozilla/firefox
3. Navigate to usr/local/realplayer-11/realplay right-click on the file and choose "create symlink". Then copy that symlink to usr/local/bin.
Then rename the symlink to "realplay".
HTH

A good practice is to edit the original post and edit it by adding [SOLVED] in the subject line.
Only the OP can do this.

Glad to know it works for someone else, I feel that i've been asking for advice for so long and never really giving any back for a long time.
