I have also been waiting for inkscape0.46.pet.
Any capable compiler out here who can take the task on?
I am sure many people will be happy to have this version of inscape working on puppy4.

Well if you manage to compile it, send over a copy ok
I tried tonight about 10 compiles of it, I even compiled the latest autoconfig and automake, gettext, libiconv,autotools,liboost-dev and no luck, just full of errors, I read the config.log etc and still it not compiling right, I found it also prepackaged for gutsy and that needs a lot of libs to get it going. But probably easier, Ubuntu gutsy works on dingo, same glibc.

I seriously don't think we'll ever beat the size of 0.45.1
I'm compiling glibmm, gtkmm, cairomm right now and I'll try one more time to compile it. Then I'll package up the gutsy version and see what all the fuss is about, lol

Well that didn't work
but the Ubuntu one did
it was 92mb uncompressed, so I ripped out the locales and help files and now its 58MB uncompressed or 18MB pet
http://www.puppylinux.ca/tpp/ttuuxxx/programs/graphics/inkscape_0.46-i386.pet
90% of the libs I compiled on puppy 4.0 like gnome, etc and the inkscape itself has some nice new 3d features with the boxes, maybe its just image-magic anyways enjoy.
Hopefully someone else will have a shot at it, I'm off to bed, have to get up for work in 5hrs
signing-off
ttuuxxx
ps tell me if its missing anything in puppy 4.0

Hi ttuuxxx,
Thanks for the prompt response.
I downloaded and installed inkscape from:
http://www.puppylinux.ca/tpp/ttuuxxx/programs/graphics/inkscape_0.46-i386.pet .
The program started alright but I am unable to open any of my svg files saved by inkscape 0.45 or even by the 0.46 version provided above!
Opening with the console gave the following error message:
# inkscape
inkscape: /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.0.9.8: no version information available (require d by inkscape)
inkscape: /usr/lib/libssl.so.0.9.8: no version information available (required b y inkscape)
(inkscape:10996): libgnomevfs-CRITICAL **: gnome_vfs_uri_is_local: assertion `ur i != NULL' failed
** (inkscape:10996): WARNING **: Invalid URI
** (inkscape:10996): WARNING **: Error: Could not open file ' filename.svg' with VFS
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Inkscape 0.46 now working in puppy4 |
|
Just did some searching and found this link:
http://puppylover.netsons.org/dokupuppy/programs:libraries.
I installed the gnome_libs and presto! inkscape now opens all svg files! although it complained of some missing libraries.

I suggest you read the last post in this thread. I hope it helps. I've got Ubuntu Linux installed on my PC and I'm running Puppy from a thumb drive. I now have Inkscape 0.46 running from the flaky file.

I am uploading the 20MB package with the gnome_libs preinstalled to:
http://www.pupweb.org/desktop/inkscape_0.46-i386.pet
petget still complains about some missing dependencies but I think most are for documentation (not compiled with --disable-scrollkeeper) or for gstreamer (not sure what it is used for in Inkscape anyways)
