Edit. See next post.
don570. Using Zigberts works, use the pmusic Force: pmusic --debug.
I have icedax package included which has cdda2wav symlink pointing to the icedax. For me CD plays just fine, at least I think so. Cut from pmusic --debug after launching Pmusic to play CD:

I should have needed libs for ffmpeg included, it wouldnt even start if I had missed something included from compile:

Sorry. I got the cd non playing error also. If I launch cd by Pmusic_sources > Music-sources > CD, it plays cd.
If I launch it by Pmusic > File > Play CD Audio, I cant play cd.
So launching using different panels makes the difference.

I copied the error messages from pmusic --debug into the attachment.
If this is Dpup Exprimo spesific problem, we can continue debugging in 5.X.8 SMP thread also.

Confirmed cd-audio error via file-menu. Works via music-sources.
We will have a fix soon :)

Version 2.1.5 introduce a new optional icon in theme - album_art_radio.png. - what should be shown as album_art pic when playing a radio stream. The complete list of pics used in a Pmusic theme is shown in the Default theme.
- You can skip the gtk-related ones. (progressbar)
- In additon you can use the pics for navigation buttons (as you already do)

NOTE!
Since you are using bigger buttons for navigation (back, play, forward), the Wings preset behaves weird. You have to scroll horizontal to see everything in the mid-field.

The solution is either to reduce the size of the pics, or increase the size of the mid-field. (Remember that Pmusic allows user-built gui-presets.) If you look into line 21 of /usr/local/pmusic/presets/Wings you'll find

Code: Select all

<vbox width-request=\"370\">
If you increase 370 you will get a wider mid-field.

When using Wings, the album_art.png could be blank instead of the info-pic (as in Default) or the Pmusic-logo. In Classic, the album_art is clickable to reach track-info. - In Wings it is not. The Pmusic logo is used if no pic is available.

Please upload the theme when you feel satisfied, so I can add it to the theme-thread.

Zigbert. Thank you of the info. Yep, I need to use somewhat bigger icons. E17 demands them to be big enough. I dont like playing with icons, but that is the quirk with e17. I have noticed the mishap in some other apps also, like Pupradio. Finding the balance of size and not too big is challenging.
I start to play and test with Pmusic-2.1.5 this evening.

By the way with Pmusic 214 I was able to get it to play a song from
the CD if I used the Pmusic_sources list

Audio CD works

#896 Post by don570 »

Audio CD now plays fine with new version

____________________________________

I was checking conversions and I noticed that
clicking on a 'folder choose' icon would not enter the
name of the folder chosen

Image

When I clicked on the cancel button halfway through the
conversion, my CD tray mysteriously opened even
though nothing was inside.

_________________________________________________

I have a suggestion --> You need to emphasize that during the
conversion the entire list is being converted.
For instance in the window you could say
Export (or convert) entire list
or
Export 3 file(s)

Good news !!!

Fixed

This is supposed to happen as Pmusic stops all 'possible' actions related to export. It is of course not necessary to stop cd-actions if not ripping....

You get it in next release.

Hi zigbert, 2.1.6 no longer seems to successfully change soundcards--2.0.2 did not either, I went back and checked. This is in Three-Headed Dog, with alsa 1.0.24.

I will test in Lucid with the multimedia Upgrade.

Wish list: Pcd with the features of Pmusic, so when people played a CD by clicking they would get the album art, lyrics, etc.

As you know. I don't have 2 soundcards, so I can't test this completely, but I looked at the code, and found some quirks.

To activate a unique soundcard you also have to activate 'Bound soundcard to Pmusic'. This was earlier default ON but lately changed to OFF.. Will you please check if this is the case. If so, I need to improve the settings / info-text so that this is switched automatically ON if user choose an unique soundcard.

When it comes to pCD, I wonder why not use Pmusic for CD-audios. Then you will get both album art, lyrics and info from musicbrainz. In the multimedia menu (JWM) you'll also find a item 'CD player/ripper' which is nothing else than Pmusic with a optimized gui for CD-audio.

pmusic tray applet source code

I would like to translate pmusic tray applet. Maybe add gettext to it. But I need source code for this. Where can I find it?

Yes! That is it exactly. Thanks. This is pretty much the perfect CD player! I am playing cd's again just for fun ;-)

I wonder if it would be possible to get the Pmusic Preferences/Menu in pmusic_CD (to change the soundcard, for instance)?

Add: 2.1.7 worked perfectly as cd player/ripper.. It found no lyrics to The Doors Hello, I Love You, though??? It found album art, but no Artist discography either. Does it need a library or program that 3HD might be lacking?

Also, Yes! 2.1.7 changed soundcards with no trouble.

What I am doing is preparing a Super Multimedia Upgrade Version 2 for Lucid and 3HD which will include the latest Pmusic and Pburn.

Feedback is the best way to improve any program, and to motivate the developer :)

Thank you for your effort
