'trio' on the forum has devised a new clock fix for Pwidgets. There was an issue where the clock would not appear automatically. However, zigbert is unable to use his minimal clock skin with the new fix.

I am wondering if you would like to create a nice, lightweight skin for zigbert? Size 140x140, png format. I think round. We all know he likes grey. Maybe to match the icon set?

Zigbert is also very happy with the weather font. Thanks again!

Regards

Mick

EDIT: It is not necessary now because we found another clockfix, but if you are bored one day...

I can't compete with WhoDo, but here is a theme that I started with 4.0 and finished a complete set in 4.2...I just zipped it up, so download it, unzip it in /usr/local/lib/X11/themes/ and it will be good to go...

Suggestion: I know you are busy, WhoDo, but would you mind maybe renaming this thread to something that can continue to include icon themes for 4.0 and up (Dingo + icon themes, or something...)? Or I can post this on another thread if a more appropriate thread is out there...

**Edit: thanks for the name change, WhoDo! 8)

There are multiple icon themes out there...just go to kde-look.org or gnome-look.org to find stuff. But Puppy does icons so differently (viva la difference! cut's down on bloat) than everyone else it takes a while to convert stuff from different icon themes to Puppy.

These are mostly from snowish icon theme from kde-look.org, but I've modified sizes, names, added, changed, etc. as needed to fit to puppy's unique style.

Same as last one, just zipped up. Use pupzip, unzip/extract to /usr/local/lib/X11/themes/ and then Snowbound icon theme will be ready to go.

Oh, this is on 4.2 (love that it has "start-button.png" as one of the icons; gives a really nice modification!) with one of dejan555's backgrounds (way to go, dejan!).

*Edit: inspired by dejan (as he's prone to do) I made a pet file of these. it is the first official pet file that I've ever made, so please tell me if it installed well. I'm leaving the zip file there too in case my pet didn't go well...

**Edit again: looks like the pet file worked just great. 8)

Incidentally, if someone has a more efficient way of making puppy icon themes, I think we would all be forever in your dept. As I mentioned, even if one isn't making icons from scratch (which you sometimes must do even if you didn't create the whole theme) it still takes quite a while to modify to meet the puppy protocols, moving, resizing, changing names, etc.

Just thought I'd mention that... 8)

Very excited about this one (well, as excited as one can be about icons)! These are from the infamous (at least in the icon/artistic world) Paul Davey aka mattahan on deviantart. All rights reserved.

I've customized (including a custom menu icon) and modified for Puppy. I hope you like it as much as I do (if so, please post back). 8)

I like it so much I had it downloaded ages ago and never got around to creating the theme from it. :P I also have gartoon, which I suspect has a similar heritage. I made a theme for that but it needs to be updated to the new rules for 4.2 shortly to be announced. I will post those here when available. It should make themes smaller and simpler (I hope).

LOL I'm not surprised you liked it...it's very artsy and eclectic; something that's hard to do with a simple icon..

I'm using the blackdog icon theme on dpup, there were just 2 icons I didn't like, the default folder I found to dark and hard drive icon. Other than that its a nice change, :) i also like the Snowbound icons :) great work putting the packages together.

Below I used Whodo's L'orange drive icon that I recoloured and added a check-mark to :)

Just for fun I did an mplayer skin specifically for this icon set and exclusively in Puppy. It is a modification of the brushed-gnome skin, but trying to get that Gant-esk effect actually took me some time.

The skin is located here.

I'm attaching a screenshot.

A list of choices is not complete without the antithesis of itself. Here is a set of un-icons.

I know this is nothing compared to the awesome release of 4.2, but I have icon questions:

1. I changed the default folder icon. I want to set it back so that whenever I change the icon theme that folder icon changes with the theme (right now it stays with the custom icon that I picked). So, how do I do that?

2. I have one computer (my PII laptop) that enjoys 4.0 and can't use anything higher...that's just fine by me. However, I like that the "Menu" button changes with the 4.2 icon themes. How can I get that to occur on 4.0? I don't know which file to edit...

We answered number 2 on the JWM themes exchange (well, the illustrious ttuuxxx did) but I would still like to know how to fix question number one if anyone knows...

Well, rats, ttuuxxx....I installed it, rebooted, no dice.

Is there a file to edit? What did I do wrong?

**Nevermind, I figured it out. I realized that folderfix.pet essentially just set up links to the correct folder icon. However it was putting it in a folder that wasn't the one that was being selected. So I clicked on the "Select Icon" option, then clicked on the part where it said "change inode/directory" and that showed where the link for the folder was coming from/referring to. I then went to that folder. The link was coming from /root/.config/rox.sourceforge.net/MIME-icons, and the link was wrong of course, hence my problem.

So I made that link refer to the same place that the proposed link from folderfix was referring to yet kept the same name. There were two of them, mime-inode:directory.png and mime-inode:mount-point.png, both were links that now referred to the correct location, the folder48.png located at /usr/local/lib/X11/pixmaps/.

That seems to have taken care of it. Of course, if it's all screwed up after the next reboot, then I'll know I did something wrong. 8)
