"archived" puppy icon theme sets

#391 Post by Subito Piano »

...so I was looking for some good old puppy icon sets and went back to the freehostia site i've used before...but trying to download some sets, first i encountered a dead link, then links that required surveys...and i found nasty unwanted windows opened...! Yech...get me outta here!!! Image

BUT i found a cache of 45 classic puppy icon sets at this sourceforge page -- for example, iconika, snowbound, smooothcolors, simple, Pardus-Milky, Aluminum, Noia-Warm, Blackdog, etc.

Thanks and kudos to some thoughtful puppy user for posting these -- ad-free. :)

Ziggy's 'Stardust' GTK theme....

#393 Post by Mike Walsh »

Hi, all.

Just a quick one for anybody who might be trying to find it...

I've always loved Ziggy's 'Stardust' GTK theme ever since I started with Puppy, and have it in use in all my Pups. All except one, that is...

I've been running Precise 571 almost since I began, yet didn't realise until tonight that I didn't have it set.....and it wasn't in the GTK themes selector in JWM Desk Manager when I went looking for it. No joy in the PPM either, so; after much searching on Ibiblio, I finally tracked it down in the Puppy-4-packages collection.

If anybody else is looking for it, the .pet for it can be found HERE.

Enjoy. It's classic Puppy 'class'..! :D

Retrosmart Puppy Theme

#394 Post by jadedctrl »

I adapted the wonderful Retrosmart (GPL) icon theme to Puppy-- it's my first PET, but it seems to work alright. I hope you like it! :)

Get the PET here, or as the attachment!

Hello jadedctrl,

Good work. I gave it a quick try in my StretchPup remaster.
One thing, I believe the trashcan_full icon is missing. This is needed to display when you have files in the trashcan.

Numix_circle

#398 Post by takenp »

Hi, this is not a Numix circle original, but - lets say - my variation of it for the Puppy. I've been using it for a while and find it very comfortable. The folder icon is very good for the ROX-FILER folders as well. It changes folder icons for ROX within tahrpuppy but not in Xenialpup in both i386/64. Possibly if I find where to put simlink to repair it-- I'll do )

It's better to name it Haiku or Haiku fork icon theme (a github maintainer admits it is based on Haiku )

i am using it in xenialpup, it looks great, for folder icons you have to change it from rox, 666philb told me how, look at this:

Many Icon Themes Illustrated

#402 Post by mikeslr »

Hi All,

I thought it might be useful to provide a link to Smokey's post here: http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... 601#995601.

Smokey took on the job of tracking down missing icon sets and republished them. Great job, smokey. Thanks a lot.

Hi guys,
I am trying to find the original LaGaDesk BlueNight icon set. The author was LaGaDesk, and he used to have it here:

https://www.deviantart.com/lagadesk/gal ... 8186/Icons

We have a PET based on these icons, however, I want to add some more to the PET.

Unfortunately, all downloads point back to that devianart.com website, so the file doesn't exist anymore.

I was wondering if anyone reading this might have downloaded it, and have it archived somewhere?

I think that it is named something like "LaGaDesk_BlueNight*.zip"

@perdido,
Oh joy! Your online detective capabilities are far in excess of mine.

I have downloaded both of those, 1.2.0 and 1.2.5. Note, I think that the last version at deviantart.com was 1.3.5, before it got pulled off.

Very much thank for that.

Yes, I also have the PET. I don't know who originally created the PET, but he/she got hold of the original icon set created by LaGaDesk.

There was one fix, by a couple of Puppy Forum members, to improve the usb-drive icon. Ah, yes, that was starhawk:

http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... 666#652666

For the record, the PET that I have been using for EasyOS is this:

http://distro.ibiblio.org/easyos/noarch ... ht-1.2.pet

I am going to add some more icons to it.

Hello Barry,

These are my favourite icons because they have the appearance of being illuminated from behind with a blue light, but the body is monochrome. Considering that they are just small images, I think the effect is rather classy. I usually set them as default in my remasters.

In fact the USB icon that I now use was edited by CatDude (using Gimp I believe) when I raised the issue. He also added the blue glow to the "lock" icon which was missing for some reason in the .pet and in Wary which was where I first saw those icons.
