Compiled in 4.21, but may work with other Puppies.
Galaxy is a free Linux computer program which simulates the motion of stars under the influence of gravity. Create a field of random stars to begin with, then watch the stars move as they are accelerated by their mutual gravitational attractions. You can vary the number of stars and the strength of gravity. Watch how the attractive forces accelerate individual stars and send them careening in new directions. Watch how large groups of stars develop into interesting patterns over time, such as clusters and spiral arms.

Thank you, aragon, for posting Galaxy. It is very interesting program. Recently, on the Discovery Science and History channels, there have been programs on the galaxies. They showed simulations of galaxy evolution. My 2.3 GHz Intel Celeron with 1 Gigabyte of memory is not really powerful enough to do a 10,000 star galaxy (which is real small galaxy in our universe) simulation. But, a 1000 star did work in a similar fashion. One could see the spiral arms developing after a few minutes. One does need a black hole to help the development.

Another interesting case is one of only three stars. This shows what happens with the classic three body problem within the limitations of the simulation.

It was fun to play with. I am putting Galaxy on travel laptop. It should be fun to have running on the airplane and see what that passenger next to you says.

I also install Galaxy into a pcPuppyOS installed. The pcPuppyOS is a nice version of Puppy 3.01 done by forum member Pizzasgood. Galaxy worked with out a hitch.
Enjoy life, Just Greg
