This is by no means a replacement for Speak-Pup.

However I was doing some playing around looking at the KDE Accessibility project. Wondering if I could get anything like that working in Puppy.

All the KDEaccessibility stuff is in Mu's KDE 3..8 sfs file.

First thing is to install he flite package, or festival. I used flite, which isn't all that great. But this is just an experiment.

Next configure KTTSD Open a terminal and type kttsd in. Add a talker, and if it works like it did on my system KTTSD will find the speech synthesizer.

Start KSAYIT running.
Menu - Utilities - Accessibility - Ksayit
A red mouth will appear on the lower left.

Highlight what you want spoken
Copy it into the Klipper Clipboard tool.
Clip on the mouth icon

What you have highlighted will be spoken.

KTTSD will start up automaticallyy if you use the KDE desktop. Kttsd and Ksayit can be used with theJWM desktop but need to be started. Open a terminal and type in kttsd <enter> and then ksayit <enter>
