FUSE - ZX Spectrum Emulator (now working!)
Posted: Tue 03 Jun 2008, 01:17
Fuse is a Free Unix Spectrum Emulator - http://fuse-emulator.sourceforge.net/
Countless games can be downloaded for free from World of Spectrum - http://www.worldofspectrum.org/
The games vary from arcade through to text adventures.
Virtually all of the games are keyboard friendly as joysticks were not initially available for the spectrum and were a relatively expensive add on. The brilliance of the World of Spectrum website makes this probably the best catered for of all the old emulated systems.
Attached are two PETs complied in Puppy 4.00. You should install libspectrum first and then and fuse. You will also need the SDL libraries.
The World of Spectrum has top 100 lists etc so if you are unfamiliar with the software for this machine you will have good places to start.
An excellent starting point (and my personal favourite) is Manic Miner.
This is my first real PET package but I'm pretty sure it is working correctly now. Please let me know if you experience problems.
Cheers,
cartz.
