Tcl and Tk 8.5.5 .PETs from latest Slackware packages

#1 Post by pa_mcclamrock »

Slackware 12.2 was recently released, and here are download links for Tcl and Tk 8.5.5 .PET packages derived from the Slackware 12.2 packages. (Don't settle for the out-of-date 8.5 alphas from Puppy 3!)

Tcl 8.5.5:

Thanks for the heads up. Downloaded and successfully installed both pets and can run Bubbles and tk card games w/o complaint on Asus EEE 900 running Puppy 4.1.2.

Thanks again,
Jake

The announcement was made in back in December. The files were since mirrored elsewhere. Look here:

Hi David I know you like your tcl/tk applications :)
Well Today I spent around 5hrs trying to find a new wallpaper setter, because the current model doesn't show a preview of the wallpapers, unlike the one in 3.0 series, I came across this old wallpaper setter program, made with tcl/tk, it doesn't have a preview, but knowing you, you could probably add one to it, its a bit of figuring around to get it to work, but I managed to bring it up, I made a system link to gpicview and called it qv, lol and it started. but it didn't set. anyways here's the source. If you do it, great and if you don't oh well I tried, lol

Thanks Aitch but thats the one in the current 4.2 without image preview, Series 3 had it, but for some reason they upgrade andother version to do slide shows and basically overlooked installing the best feature of any wallpaper setter, 'previews'. I would take knowing what I'm setting over a sideshow any day.

I can now. (I missed the announcement when it first came out.) Very simple, designed only to prevent automated abuses by "bots" and the like:

username: puppy

password: linux

I should mention that, if you get Puppy 4.2 (now up to RC3--see the "Puppy Projects" forum), you won't have to install my Tcl and Tk 8.5.5 runtime .PETs, because Tcl and Tk 8.5.6 are built into 4.2. :D

Thanks, but I'm afraid I'm too accustomed to trying to do things the easy way instead of the hard way. The easy way, if there's no preview, is to do a "postview": (1) Open existing wallpaper setter; (2) apply and examine wallpaper; (3) if not satisfied, repeat steps (1) and (2) with additional wallpapers until you're satisfied or wallpaper selection is exhausted, whichever happens first. :)
