Missing Libraries

Several librarys seem to be missing for the apps I am trying to run. I have tried installing from source, but have been consistantly running into problems. Here is an example:
sh-3.00# tuxtype2
tuxtype2: error while loading shared libraries: libSDL-1.2.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
sh-3.00# tuxmath
tuxmath: error while loading shared libraries: libSDL-1.2.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
sh-3.00#
Does anyone know what I am doing wrong, or missing?

I installed the dotPET, but I am still having the same problems. Thanks for your help.
