Testing at .ca Subject description: We're making changes at .ca |
|
Hi All,
There will be changes at puppylinux.ca happening over the next few days and possibly during the entire week or so.
For all the people with files at .ca please check your links to be sure any changes will be updated for your users.
We are trying to get the clean urls working properly so all the php junk is hidden and if successful your links may change slightly.
Sorry for the inconvenience but when we're done it should make links look much better.
Best,
Eric.

Eric,
my "The Puppy web" page, at:
http://puppylinux.com/other.htm
is way out of date. I ported it from servage to the new host, but never got round to updating it.
If I put an entry in it for your site, what would be the best entry-point url, just this?:
http://puppylinux.ca/
And I would need a simple short one-paragraph description of what the site is for.
While I'm at it, what other major Puppy sites should be linked from that page?

@Barry, possibly Eric as well ...
You can remove the puppylinux-foundation.com link. The owner of the domain has long since disappeared and let the registration expire.

Hi Barry,
You can use puppylinux.ca or www.puppylinux.ca
I will make up a description for you but mostly it's just a dedicated Puppy site run by users and the main purpose is to provide web space and bandwidth for people that work with and use Puppy.
As for another site, maybe a link to a fellow Australian named Kevin who has negotiated a mirror with his isp...look here
http://mirror.internode.on.net/pub/puppylinux/
I can give you his email address if you wish so you can discuss it with Kevin directly but I think Kevin already sent his info to you.
We are making major changes here at .ca for the next few weeks or so and with the new changes I hope you will find puppylinux.ca an asset to your work.
Best,
Eric

It appears that the domain is active...turned into one of those adsense traps.

Hi All,
Well the changes at puppylinux.ca are coming along well.
If anyone has broken links please let Prit1 or myself know as we can't catch everything in a short period of time.
For ftp users...there have been many changes and some of you have been emailed...if you find a broken ftp account let me know and I'll fix you up with the new setup.
Sorry for any problems but the new setup should help the server.
Best,
Eric

Well there has been more accomplished today. I want to thank Prit1 for all his efforts and help..Well done Prit!!
Basically there will be 3 main directories for user to download from.
First is http://puppylinux.ca/puppyfiles which is for Barry's iso,pet and sfs files along with some custom puplets etc.
Second is http://puppylinux.ca/tpp which is for senior developers and more stable stuff.
Third is http://puppylinux.ca/members where bits and bobs, newer and test isos, files etc will reside.
I hope everyone likes the new setup as I think this will make things easier to find on my server.
To all people hosted on puppylinux.ca. Please check your files in case there are any errors and report them to Prit or myself. Checks have been made but somethings may have slipped by us...so any info will help us finish the rest of the updates...Thanks
Best,
Eric

downloads still not completing |
|
Hi Caneri
I've just finished trying to download charnisingh's gizmo pet again, but the download still ending prematurely. This time reached 4 MBytes before kicking me off. I have 56K dialup modem only.
http://www.puppylinux.ca/members/Singh-Dingo/Gizmo-Project/gizmo-project-3.1.0.79-req.libstdc++6.pet
Your site is looking good. Hope you get these teething problems sorted out okay.
Cheers
William
Note: the above was from Firefox downloader. Yesterday, I tried wget but that wouldn't work because of all the php stuff I presume. I see I can now use wget since the link address is "simple" again, so am about to use that instead with the hope resume will work should the download prematurely terminate again.

Hi William,
I downloaded a few files from Charni's directory and all seems ok. Charni has no md5sum.txt but I made up a few from what I downloaded from the gizmo directory.
Good to see you again William.
Best,
Eric
