Sharing an usb hp3550 deskjet printer from a puppy4.0 -box

#1 Post by meinhardt_jgbr »

I've just installed puppy 4.0 on an old Sharp Actius A280 notebook.

I want to share the usb hp3550 deskjet printer connected to it among other 2 pc's I have at my home network.

Have made plenty of tentatives to configure printer sharing using CUPS, without success.

Have even tried to install Samba with the same purpose, but was also not able yet to have printer showing-up.

Which would be the best alternative, considering that the other two pc's, one operates straight with Linux Kurumin NG 8.06 (Kubuntu kernel - hardy heron) and the other operates either with the same version of Brazilian distro Kurumin or WinXP-Pro.

All 3 pc's are behind a Coyote style diskless router-firewall that I run using an even older pc (PcChips-M818 - K6-2 350mhz, "downclocked" to 166 with just 32Mb of Ram, no hdd, no keyboard, no monitor, just running from a floppy - loaded with Brazilian distro BrazilFW version 2.28).

Thanks
