I don't know.
Gizmo supports AIM, MSN and Googletalk
and mobile phone installation . . .
http://gizmo5.com/pc/
but whether that will be available on a conference call
Dunno . . . Anyone know? :)

I just tried that for the first time, and Gizmo crashed (I had to kill the gizmo processes).

I had reported on the Skype/now Gizmo thread that Gizmo crashed on Puppy 2.17.1 at least when pressing one of the buttons near the bottom of the main screen (fifth to the right).
Now I think that button is in fact the one for calling up the preferences screen (I'm not sure though).

However, and oddly. Since trying to save settings and having the crash, I've tried that again, and now its not crashing (and the preferences settings change I made is being stored...). Also, it isn't crashing when I press that button I referred to above... Not so far anyway, and it used to crash every time when I pressed that button... Long may my new good fortune last.

now refusing to crash - damn thing

#20 Post by mcewanw »

It is utterly refusing to crash now...

I doubt this will be true, but slight flicker of hope that the very first time you try to change settings (via File/Preferences) and then shut the program down it crashes but maybe writes some config file at that time, such that from then on it doesn't crash? I suspect I'm being overly optimistic.
I suggest trying it a few times to see if it keeps crashing.
I'm going to boot up Dingo now and see if it crashes when changing settings there on my system.

That, I believe, is because Gizmo probably wasn't "crashing" when running on Puppy version 2.17.1, I just confused a connection waiting problem with crashing. However, under Puppy 4.00 (dingo) it crashes everytime an attempt is made to access Preferences. Waiting on word back from Tombh about Gizmo running on WNOP. See the other thread: Skype/now Gizmo for more...

now includes the GConf and the orbit2 dotpets - install those first - (download by clicking on them - click on the file to run) then Gizmo-project.pet
NOTE though that since the dotpet(s) pointed to by the link given on the wiki page now include Gconf and orbit2, the instructions saying to install "those first" no longer applies.

--------

Considering all the time I've spent building and rebuilding Gizmo, I've actually hardly used it yet, but it is going to be very useful for my family, and I'm glad it uses open protocols even though the program itself isn't open source.

I hope the voice message function remains free; it is great.

Much appreciated :)

Well the following Puppys (that I know of) are using Puppy
I can not see them objecting to having their Gizmo names available - if you do PM and I will edit this post :)

So if you fancy a Puppy chat . . .

I'm presuming that this is another McEwan (since it definitely isn't me!); must be a clan gathering! And I thought most of my clan were computer illiterates too.

libgconf-2.so.4 missing?

#26 Post by TheGogmagog »

It's not running for me, Puppy 4.2.1
# gizmo
gizmo: error while loading shared libraries: libgconf-2.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory.

Googling libgconf-2.so.4, leads me back to http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=35547 Do I need to de-package and reinstall seamonkey to get one file? That's what seems to be implied here http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=37516.

Download link please

#27 Post by doctor82 »

I'm a linux newbie and would like to use grandcentral for voice chat with my friends on gtalk. The download links provided at the beginning of this thread gave me 404 not found error. I wonder if there is a static version because some of the uninstallation don't work with puppy package manager (just in case I decide to uninstall) Also it might save some space in personal storage space (mine is 512 Mb) Please give a link to .pet file rather than a source file as I don't know how to make it executable. Thanks.
