Find network key for Verizon FiOS WEP SSID

#1 Post by aarf »

someone want to test this and see if it works
The default Verizon FiOS install sets a wifi WEP key that can be easily found since its tied to the MAC address of the access point.

♣ All FiOS network names are 5 characters long, for example WV744, A7B8D and 79BZ7. That's how you detect if the wifi network is FiOS.

Enter the SSID/wireless network name and get the key!

Enter SSID/Wireless Network Name(s), one in each line

Using the link given, the output was as follows:

SUCCESS: Network keys for CS3D2 - 18013C966C & 1F903C966C

CS3D2 is the default ESSID listed on the bottom of our Actiontec M1424WR Verizon supplied to us upon signing up for FIOS.

18013C966C is the WEP KEY listed on the bottom of our router. I do not know about the second listed key.

These were our actual settings until recently. Our network had a "hidden" ESSID as per the manual.

We now have WPA2 security enabled.
