I'm completely new to this NOP but have used Puppy 400 for a week or so.

I learned to mount sda1 very fast. within some hours but in your NOP
I totally fail to find Sda1. Mount doesn't find it either. Only the DVD.

What could I do about it. I want to test latest opera cause it is handy to have
email built in. It played youtube right away but it failed with
playrapport.se so maybe I have to find other solutions for that one.

I could maybe add realplayer and flashplayer and Firefox?

No internet connection.

#64 Post by phutte »

NOP4 is what I would like to have as my OS, it will rock? Or...?
Running from LiveCD, All OK!
Full HD install, can't connect to internet.
Update (over MacPup), works, but messes up to looks quite hard.
Frugal, if I remember, it works, but thats not how I want it structually on my filesystem.

It's the 'Full HD'-install I want, or I will try to (swearing now: try to patch SliTaz to work with a Swedish keyboard layout :o)
Anyone else experienced problems with eth0 connection (not wireless)?

Once again, WOW, me like petting small puppy ;o)
Keep it up, we binary autists!

I am using NOP since it has margin facility.

My NB has AMD Geode LX Video and 1024x600 screen. X works at 1024x768 (both vesa and xorg), and I am using margin to make my maximum windows at 1024x600. Problem happen when doing presentation which still 1024x600

I found AMD GeodeLX driver and ttuuxx helped me to make it as PET file, but the driver isn't loaded at all (so does original puppy)

I tried to modify xorg.conf but every boot NOP always make new xorg.conf.

Battery meter and wifi also undetected.

However, only NOP that can display windows max at 1024x600, which other linuxes can't (I tried ubuntu, kubuntu, xubuntu, fluxbuntu, and pepper)

Thanks

Pwireless

#66 Post by GrumpyWolfe »

Hi all

Not sure if this is NOP problem or Pwireless problem but when I try and save a autoconnect Profile then Pwireless quits responding and has to be killed. When I check on running proccess I find that tee is uning alot of processer power and has to be killed. Any sujestions on how to fix this would be appchated.

NOP will survive

#68 Post by renatogui »

Hello, Gray,

I am very glad to know (in Boxpup forum) that you didn't abandon NOP project. When I saw the NOP combination of xfce clear looking with opera and thunar functionality, it was love at first sight.
Since then I am following your creative job in Boxpup and LXP but for me nothing is better than NOP simplicity and compactness.

I am using NOP in a eeePC and still have some problems to solve like battery monitoring and dual booting install. As I read that Puppy 4.1 will have more support for small computers like eeePC, I cannot wait for your next NOP 4.1

Thank you for the wonderful job.
By the way, when are you going to buy an eeePC? ;-)

Is it possible to upgrade to NOP 4.0 from a Puppy Linux 3.01 frugal install on a USB stick minus save file?

Now that Puppy 4.1 is out, can we expect an updated NOP soon?

battery indicator

#72 Post by renatogui »

Hello, Gray,

In case you are planning a revamped NOP410, how about a battery health indicator? I tried to do this using the already installed genmon (http://goodies.xfce.org/projects/panel- ... mon-plugin) but I am an old and sclerotic newbie and had no success.
Thanks again for this beautiful light and clean NOP.

Hi,
I just discovered NOP and I must say: very nice :)
But .. there is one thiing that annoys me now for hours already...
I HATE the green style von NOP, and I still have NO clue how to change that. (panel, checkboxes and scrollflied backgrounds , etc)
Well, I dont wanna get back to ubuntu but changeing that color is a knock out criteria - anyone a solution for that? (gtk-chtheme does NOT help)
PLEASE .. I am desperate :(

Theme change

#75 Post by gray »

Hi rec,

I guess you are referring to NOP 4.1, so this should be in the new thread.

Changing the look is easy with Xfce. From the menu select settings, then settings manager. Click user interface manager to change the gtk theme (and panel theme). Use the Window Manager button to change the window decor.

Opening an old thread, but does anyone have this version of NOP (4.0) with a link for download? The link at the beginning of this is no good.

4.0 is the only one that works with my linksys wireless (I tried 5.1.1, 4.3.1, and 4.0). Actually, the all see it but oddly only 4.0 connects. And I wanted XFCE so NOP would be the easiest way to go...
