NOP 3.01 won't load rt73 wireless driver

#1 Post by n1n31nchn41l5 »

I am running NOP 3.01 and CAN NOT get it to load the rt73 driver in ndiswrapper for my usb wireless. It took it once yesterday but didnt save the config and keeps autoloading rt2570. the rt2570 just locks up my laptop comepletely. I even pulled the rt73 driver off the cd it came on and network wizard already has a version of it. Neither will load even after a rmmod 2t2570 in the terminal..... Stands very confused??

i tried a rmmod rt73 and the terminal says:

ERROR: Module rt73 does not exist in /proc/modules

even with view invisible checked i can find no /modules folder inside of /proc

I am using a Belkin F5D7050 Wireless USB Adapter

Try this

http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... f50d10ff69

Otherwise post the wifi card type /number to verify that it does actually need the rt73 driver

There is some overlap of the vendor IDs for rt2570 and rt73, so sometimes the wrong module may get loaded. If your sure you need the rt73 and not the rt2570, go to Menu - System - BootManager. Then click on blacklist a module. Follow the directions to blacklist the rt2570 module. Then reboot and try doing:

modprobe rt37
iwconfig

and see if your interface is listed, or use the network wizard.

kirk rt2570 is not available to blacklist

@n1n31nchn41l5

If you post the output of lsmod
[type it in a console] to the forum,
maybe it will help someone spot the problem.

It may be something to do with the usb, instead
I've known plenty of times where it hasn't loaded the drivers for the hi-speed module & I think wifi needs it

then try

modprobe usblp
modprobe ehci_hcd
modprobe ohci_hcd

see if there's any errors

OK

So, AFAIK, that shows your usb, & rt73 identified but not loaded

see the '0' after it? if loaded it would be a '1'

rerun lsmod after

modprobe ehci
modprobe ohci
modprobe usblp
modprobe usbstorage

& see if they load i.e. go to a '1''

but mainly:-

see my next, the previous to this one, post, as mu seems to have solved this very problem
