Subject description: Asking For Approval of FreeNX Client .pup

I hope that I'm submitting this to the right place. The link on the main Puppy site is broken.

I have created a .pup that installs the FreeNX client (version 1.5) and its dependencies. I haven't been able to get it to attach to this message though. I keep getting an error that says I'm trying to upload an empty file. It's the same file that I've been using to test the installations, and I've checked it to make sure it's not 0 bytes. Has anyone else had the same issue?

Thanks.

Jeremy

Hi

If you've checked the file's OK, try zipping it & see if you can attach the zipped file
If it's no good, you'll soon be notified!

Thanks for the reply Aitch. I tried putting the .pup into a zip file and it still says that the file is empty when I try to attach it. I've tried from Linux and Windows, from Firefox and IE, and from a different location to make sure there wasn't a firewall issue. All with no luck.

When I click on the "Allowed Extensions and Sizes" link it says that the maximum upload size for both archives and images is 0 bytes. Is there a setting for my account that doesn't allow me to upload?

Thanks.

sorry, don't know, mine works OK, although it too, shows 'max allowed 0 bytes' [don't forget to press "add" after selecting the file to attach & the file should appear in blue typeface just below the attach file window, in a new box as posted attachments]
but I thought this appropriate to alert others with Laughing

Aitch

Edit: just got 'tried to upload empty file' because my example attach was in the wrong format i.e. 'rtf' I changed it to 'jpg'
zip should work

Thanks Aitch.

After experimenting a little bit, I've found that I can't attach my file because it's too large. I can attach smaller files (see attached screenshot), but my file that's about 3.5 MB gives the "empty file" error. To make sure that it's nothing with the .pup I created, I downloaded a .pup from the user contributions page that was a little larger than mine and tried to upload it. It failed too.

The file that I have can't really be downsized any. I'm not quite sure where to go from here. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks Will.

I created the .pup at the above link that installs the FreeNX client (version 1.5) and its dependencies. It does not include the FreeNX server files. I've tested it with Puppy 3.01 and 2.11 and had no problems.

Once installed, you can find the nxclient binary in /usr/NX/bin to run the app.

Please let me know if any of you have any problems with it.

Thanks.

Thanks for this, but am having an error: "An error has occured:

You have requested http://rapidshare.com/files/105379366/FreeNX_Client_1_5.pup (3636 KB).

Your IP address XXXXXXX is already downloading a file. You have to wait until it is finished."

May I suggest ftp://puppy:linux@ftp.servage.net for uploading it.

Thanks raffy.

I've uploaded the file to ftp.servage.net. The file name is FreeNX_Client_1_5.pup.

Does anyone have any updates on whether or not this .pup is working for them?

Thanks.
