k3b squash file for testing |
|
I've packaged K3B 1.0.4 with the absolute minimum required libs from kdelibs 3.5.7. This sfs also contains required libraries from arts, libhal and libmusicbrainz.
Qt (available via petget) is required as well as the libraries mentioned in the following post
I have K3B set to use alsa (instead of arts for sound) and not to eject the cd after burning. I find that ejecting the cd (at least on my test pc) prevents the verification from starting.
If you have any problems, try running k3b from a console and report what you were trying to do and any errors given.
NB for puppy2 you will also need to install cdrdao.
Download k3b_1.0.4.sfs
12M Download, 29M uncompressed.
Tested in Puppy3 (NOP) and 2.14r

Today I will test, for now I have mirrored this file on dokupuppy (due to bad experience with rapidupload that has erased suddenly some files I have uploaded)

Tried it. Didn't work.
Run from a console it says it needs "libdbus-qt-1.so.1".
When you had it working, I assume it was working for you, could you burn from .mp3 files? I did everything I could think of to an install of k3b on my puppy and couldn't get it to realize that I had the maddecoder plugin for .mp3s installed. It never did find it.
EDIT: Disregard. I was using 2.17.1 instead of 3.01. 3.xx doesn't recognize my wifi card, and I see no need to upgrade without support for my hardware. I'm now robbing the libs from a 3.xx disk.

The good news. It does run.
The bad news.
If you're using 2.17.1, you'll have to steal a few libs from a 3.xx disk, and you need libfam and libesd. I don't know if 3.01 has those 2 or not, but 2.xx does not. Both are available in .pups. The other bad news. I can't burn from .mp3s. It says the plugin isn't found, just like my previous attempt. So, for me at least it's useless unless it can be fixed. I tried and couldn't do it, but maybe someone can.
I hope that helps.

Hello sketchman,
I have burnt many CD's using K3B with MP3's downloaded using frostwire in TEENpup 2008. You can even drag and drop them straight from Frostwire into K3B. See screenshot.

John. How did you get the mp3 decoder plugin to work? I tried every possible location, and even edited the file that defines where it should be installed, but it never worked for me.
As you can see in the image. K3b starts up and runs fine, but libk3bmaddecoder.so isn't found. As you can also see in the bottom, it's there, the program just can't find it.

Why is it that everybody attaches pictures which go far beyond the screen? Sigh.
A decent format is to reduce to 700 pixels wide.

Sorry. Sometimes I forget that not everybody has a wide-screen format monitor.

True, I am jealous on the people having a nice wide-screen monitor.
Hope you aren't offended.

Nope. Not offended in the least.
I should be more considerate of people with normal sized displays. I do a lot of graphic things. That's how I rationalized buying a 22". Plus it's great for movies.

Does anyone know what version of libid3 puppy has? The above link is to a discussion of my very problem ony not in puppy. I don't know what distro they were using, but an old version of libid3 kept k3b from seeing the plugin.
Could that possibly be the problem? I will test and see.
EDIT: I tested the .sfs with 3.01 and all libs that are needed. I don't have a clue what I'm doing wrong, but libk3bmaddecoder.so still is not found by k3b. Guess it's time to dl teenpup 2008 and see what's different.

I fixed it. It was a missing library. I don't name the file, because I have absolutely no idea which one it was.
I mounted the Teenpup .sfs from the livcd, and selected every single file in /usr/lib. Then copy and hold down alt+n to avoid overwriting anything.
I don't know what fixed it, but if anybody has the same prob I had, it's a no-brainer fix for it. One interesting thing I noticed. The same time libk3bmaddecoder.so was found, k3b started up showing the tips popup. It wasn't doing that before. So maybe the two things are related.

I'd like to retract my previous success statement.
I was using a version .12.16 of K3B. This one works fine. The sfs that is in this thread will not work for me, says something about a malformed something, but will start up. It's not usable however. Each time I tried to do something, it would give me the malformed thing.
