help on grub installation with teenpup 2008

#1 Post by tech_trgr »

i badly need help!

i'm trying to install teenpup 2008 on my lappy and i can't seem to make it boot up. i used the universal installer for the teenpup and the grub. but it doesn't boot up properly. i always get the error message etc/tz - no such file or directory.

i tried to edit my menu.lst

this is my menu.lst now:

#Linux bootable partition config begins
title TEENpup 2008 (on/dev/hda1)
root (hd0,0)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz root=/dev/hda1 ro vga=normal
#Linux bootable partition config ends

any suggestions? what else did i miss?

please help me!

try boot from cd, menu-> utility ->grub bootloader config ->standard -> /dev/hda? (select correct hda 1-5)-> MBR

I had same problem, until I selected MBR then it added both (vista and puppylinyx) os's on lappy. Hope this helps. or Try adding rootnoverify:

#Linux bootable partition config begins
title TEENpup 2008 (on/dev/hda1)
rootnoverify (hd0,0)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz root=/dev/hda1 ro vga=normal
#Linux bootable partition config ends

/etc/TZ is to do with your time zone, so you could try just booting a cdrom in ram, (puppy pfix=ram), make sure that you've got the correct time for your location, then mount the partition, where you've got a full install of puppy, mount the cdrom, then copy /etc/TZ of the cdrom to the full install partition.

Hopefully, that will work.
