Hello,
I'm running Puppy 3.01. My notebook has an on-board soundchip, but I prefer my external USB-soundcard. After the frugal installation of puppy the on-board soubdchip was configured by default. So I used ALSAconfig to set up my external USB-soundcard. Having done this successfully I checked the etc/modprobe.conf . The final and relevant lines are as follows.

Having saved the settings in the pup_save-301.2fx I did a reboot:
But Puppy does not configure my USB-soundcard but the on-board soundchip. Astonished by this I checked the etc/modeprobe.conf again.
Here are the final and relevant lines:

What am I doing wrong? Why doesn't Puppy configure my USB-soundcard when booting? What can I do to use my USB-soundcard by default?

This is what I found out so far:

Both drivers (onboard-soundchip and usb-soundcard) are loaded correctly.

By default the onboard-soundchip is set as soundcard "0" and the usb-soundcard is set as soundcard "1".
(I discovered this by typing "alsamixer" and "alsamixer -c 1").

By using ALSACONF I am able to set the usb-soundcard as default but only for the session that is running.

After the next boot the onboard-soundchip is back as default.

So in each session I have to run ALSACONF to use my usb-soundcard.

Is there any way to modify ALSA's config files so that my usb-soundcard will be set as default automatically?

(BTW there is no way to disable the onboard-soundchip via BIOS.)

I have the same problem as Broadway. I setup ALSA sound every time I boot up, but after I restart the sound doesn't work. The driver it uses is es18xx. I'm not using the soundcard that is intergrated in the motherboard, but a separate sound card.

Could someone please tell me how to fix this problem, thanks!
If any extra info is needed, please let me know.
