Subject description: error with petget

been trying to install this on 2.16 now on 2.17 save on NTFS and no success with either, tried unpacking with xarchive to .packages no go then tried petget so it would register
and get this error:

There was an error expanding package wbar-1.3%2BImlib2-1.4.0.tar.gz.
Either the file is corrupted, or has not expanded into its own directory with
name of wbar-1.3%2BImlib2-1.4.0/ (which is how most packages expand).
You will have to go into /root/.packages/ directory and manually clean it up.

any ideas, am I going about this all wrong?

thanks yim

%2b in the file name looks a like a url encoding problem (although you posted a B which is different).

where did you download from and how?

i've used the wbar dougal posted here and it worked ok for me in the past.

give some more info and someone should be able to help you get it going.

just a thought but could be that the download was affected by the forum software upgrade! could be.

Here is how I did it.

Downloaded the wbar-1.3+Imlib2-1.4.0.tar.gz from the post

http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=127662

Extract the contents manually using tar or pupzip to a folder. Then from this folder, move the contents to the respective directories of the filesystem.

Add the following code to /root/.jwmrc-tray between xload and minixcal.

Code:
<Swallow name="wbar">
   wbar -pos bottom &
</Swallow>

Rename dot.wbar to .wbar and move it to the root folder.

Run the following script provided by HairyWill.

Quote:

HairyWill:
I wrote a small script that parses your PuppyPin file and creates a wbar config file based on your desktop icons. You can then edit PuppyPin and remove the icons from your desktop.

Code:

#!/bin/sh
echo "# The Bar && Font
i: /usr/share/wbar/wbar.icons/osxbarback.png
t: /usr/share/wbar/wbar.icons/VeraBd/9
c:
" > /root/.wbar
sed  '/label/!d ; s/\(\(.*\)label="\)\(.*\)">\(.*\)<\/icon>/\3\n\4\n/g' /root/Choices/ROX-Filer/PuppyPin > /tmp/wbar
while read LABEL
do
   read COMMAND
   ICON=`grep -A1 -B1 "$COMMAND" /root/Choices/ROX-Filer/globicons | sed '/<icon>/!d ; s/<icon>\(.*\)<\/icon>/\1/'`
   if [ -f "$ICON" ] && [ `which $COMMAND` ]; then
      echo i:"$ICON" >> /root/.wbar
      echo c:"$COMMAND" >> /root/.wbar
      echo t:"$LABEL" >> /root/.wbar
      echo  >> /root/.wbar
   fi
   read LABEL
done < /tmp/wbar

Then you can manually edit the /root/.wbar and make necessary changes.

When you restart JWM, you will get the wbar.

If you dont want your windows over the wbar, then you can create a dummy jwm tray as shown by hairywill in the same post.

Quote:
<Tray x="500" y="723" width="1" height="1"></Tray>

Hope this works for you.

Read the post I mentioned earlier. This will help.

Yim,

Your post encouraged me to play around with the wbar options and I liked the -jumpf 0 -nanim 3.

In addition I liked

balfa - removed the borders using this
isize - increased the icon size
idist - increased the icon spacing

Now I am loving my wbar. Smile
