Hello Everyone,
After months of testing and experimenting with many different Applications / Artwork / icons / themes TEENpup 2008 is ready.
While I wait for links to allow TEENpup's download to be setup, here's some screenshots for you. You should be able to download it in a couple of days.

Hello Lobster,
The iso is 499Mb's in size and is running fine on a Pentium III 800Mhz 128Mb's of RAM PC with Swap. If TEENpup 2.14 runs fine on your PC this version should as well.
To allow TEENpup to still work on old PC's that may no longer work with Puppy 3 series, TEENpup 2008 is still based on Puppy 2.14
This will be the last version of TEENpup based on the 2 series.
You can expect the next version to be based on Puppy 3 or 4 series depending on which turns out to be better.

I can tell you one thing, there has been alot of changes done and hopefully a few pleasant surprises will be found while using TEENpup 2008.

Yey! I've been waiting for this. This should be great. You've obviously spent a lot of time on it. Will it automatically support USBs when plugged in? Will it also recognise hard drives automatically if I do a full install (i suppose it does)? Thx again for this excellent release!

Edit: Also, TEENpup uses the .pup extensions doesn't it for installing applications (I'm new to it).

TEENpup2008 supports both dotpup and pet packages.
As it is based on Puppy 2.14, you can try Puppy series 3 packages, but expect a lot not to work. As always, try any new package first while running live if you have TEENpup installed to your Hard Drive.
TEENpup2008 still uses MUT, Pmount and Pdrive which require you to mount your USB's etc manually. I prefer this method over automounting of USB's as it makes it easier to fix if you have a problem when a USB stick won't mount.

I have always have TEENpup installed to my Hard Drives.
I have 2 Hard Drives which are partitioned into 5 separate partitions and have never had any problems.
TEENpup2008 has been uploaded to Puppylinux.ca and are awaiting conformation that all is well with the iso and will post here when all is good to go.

Very nice looking! I have a couple questions.
Are you using Firefox?
What version of Frostwire did you use?
What version of Java?
Any Ipod support like your previous version?

I've been trying to get Frostwire to work in 3.01 and 2.14r 1.01 with newest versions of Java and Frostwire and have been having problems getting it to connect to internet.
I'll be watching for your upload, I have a friend who's kid will love this current version.

Thanks. You've answered all my questions. I can't wait for it come out. It seems great and it's one of the only distributions that has complete support out of the box with codecs, etc. That's why I didn't really like Ubuntu and Fedora. I'm going to do a full install and get rid of Windows. Thanks again!

I experimented with Firefox, Opera, Flock and in the end decided to update Seamonkey to version 1.1.8 and add a few plug-ins to improve usability. As all these Browsers aren't to hard to add to Puppy/TEENpup I thought I'd add more Apps instead.
Gtkpod is still in TEENpup 2008 and the version of Frostwire is 4.13.3 and version of Java is still 1.5.08

All in all I have continue to build on improving an already sound base with TEENpup 2.14 Added more Apps again.
TEENpup 2008 in more evolution than revolution.

I think that I had tried to install the firefox pet but didn't have a big enough personal storage size due to limited space on the hard drive. I could not make it bigger. I now have more space freed up on that hard drive so I'll retry to install it first on 3.01 with a new personal sfs file.
I am supplying a couple friends with disks so they can try Puppy. One is an adult, the other a teen. It will save me from having to reinvent the wheel. I don't mind rolling my own custom Puppy but it can be a drag trying to make a full blown custom Puppy for others.
Teenpup and FH have enough things in them to give new users a very good demo of what Linux is all about.

If you have have temp space problems, A quick way around it is to convert your pet package to a tgz and extract it to a directory then copy the files from it to the corresponding directories.
in a terminal type pet2tgz name.pet <--- has to be the package name with the .pet included, Then click the tgz file and extract it. and copy to the proper directories.

This looks absolutely fantastic - cant wait to get it on the Hdd - and it really does look as if it truly has the potential to be a very viable replacement for Wdoze.

to get teenpup, type this in a console:

Of course you must use an existing folder with 530 MB free space as "to_the_folder_where_to_download"

To resume a download:
If you have to interrupt, or the download blocks for a long time, you can hit CTRL-C
You then can resume the partially finished download by typing the same commands again

To check if all is ok:
Then check the checksum:
This will print a number after some seconds.
It must be: a267e4ead37f04c46362709d023c5bba
If it is different, your download is broken.

Problems:
If you just get a iso that is very small (some byte), open it in leafpad.
Most likely then the bandwidth-limit of my hoster is reached.
It will contain an errortext then.
Then you can try it again at 3.00 a.m. central european time (Berlin).

Softpedia have setup a page to download TEENpup2008 but the download link doesn't work. I am trying to get in touch with them to retify. I will post here when all is well at Softpedia.

I downloaded the TeenPup. Looks great. So many applications.

I was trying to play one of my favorite video streams. It does not work in Gxine, Mplayer and in VLC, the video is not good.

Here is the stream.

One question, do this link work in any other Puppy version or another Linux Distro like SuSe for example?

Here's a little trick you can do in TEENpup 2008,
If you open Konqueror File Manager and click on a Dotpup package, Konqueror will let you look inside without installing the package.
This is very handy when you want to add, modify or take something out.

If you want to open and view Powerpoint docs, TEENpup 2008 comes with a viewer built in.

Seamonkey now comes with lots of Plugins to make life easier and is now version 1.1.8
